Its a big place, but its bery very hot here with mostly unshaded seating. I've had heat stroke from being out there for the cricket. Very much needs shaded seating for all currently its only available for members.
Tragically nostalgic home of cricket in Perth. Outdated ad hoc seating. Too small. Rubbish food and beverage outlets. Staff do well with what they are given though. Overpriced everything. Drink tap water, bring your own lunch, wear the biggest hat you have and you should have a great day at the cricket.
Lack of shade a huge problem especially if the weather is going to be a very hot day. The grassed areas are not the place to be on the hot days. The Red Frog vollies handing out red frogs and sunscreen etc are wonderful.
The WACA has been Western Australia's "home of cricket" since the early 1890s, with Test cricket played at the ground since the 1970–71 season.[3] The ground is the home venue of Western Australia's first-class cricket team, the Western Warriors, and a Women's National Cricket League side, the Western Fury. The Perth Scorchers, a Big Bash League franchise, also play at the ground, which is branded #TheFurnace for those matches.[4]
The pitch at the WACA is regarded as one of the quickest and bounciest in the world. These characteristics, in combination with the afternoon sea-breezes which regularly pass the ground (the Fremantle Doctor), have historically made the ground an attractive place for pace and swing bowlers. The outfield is exceptionally fast, contributing to the ground seeing some very fast scoring – as of February 2016, four of the nine fastest Test centuries have been scored at the WACA.[5]
Throughout its history, the ground has also been used for a range of other sports, including athletics carnivals, Australian rules football, baseball, soccer, rugby league, rugby union, and international rules football. However, recent years have seen most of these activities relocated to other venues. It has also been used for major rock concerts.
Nice ground, relaxing when watching Sheffield Shield. Only $5 to enter. Good for the kids to muck around on the hill.
Home of cricket in WA. The ground has charm but is showing its age.
Great cricket oval untill you need to release the trouser snake no speakers with commentary and its a 2 over trip to get to the bogger and back
Sadly it's seen better days. Great cricket ground.
All the WA locals whinge about this stadium, but it's actually a great place to watch cricket at! Lots of character and charm.
Great venue to watch the T20 Big Bash League. I would leave 5 stars if the food and drink was not so exorbitantly priced.
Great time with mates and get away with alot of fun.
This ground is not good. The facilities are basic and the catering here is average at best. Very much looking forward to the new Perth Stadium.
BBL game Brisbane Heat kicking the Perth Scorchers Asses. (From Queensland) Grounds smaller than I thought. Food and Drinks every expensive. Great seating. Fun atmosphere.
Went to watch BBL the other day and the atmosphere was amazing! A good selection of Food & Drinks too ;)
It is smaller than most stadiums, but the WACA has maintained its old school cricket atmosphere with a cool indoor bar and manual scoreboard. Good leg room (in the members section at least).
