Good value for money. Visited the Bakery for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. There was so much to see and do and learn. It's an important experience every Australian and Chinese person should experience. It's definitely a full day but there is so much else to do in Ballarat that it makes sense to stay a few days.

Must go to place if you're near Ballarat Wildlife Park, it's just a 4mins+ drive away. You'll spend about 3hours or more at this place. Closing time is 5.30pm, but most shops inside closes at 5pm. Their large carriage rides, gold panning area, mini tours etc. Went for the secret chamber tour and it was totally worth it. Thumbs up to our tour guide Adrian! Best time to go is around 1.30 - 2pm, when the sun is not so blazing during Dec period (which was the time we went). Weather was still quite cooling even though the sun is scorching. Still better than the weather in Singapore :)

Lots do do and the walking around in itself kept the kids from going feral. The demonstrations are informative and interesting but not too long. The gold mine tour scared some kids but others found it fun. The school was informative and the kids remember lots of interesting tid bits and appreciate their life of today. Gold panning was a good time filler and some found specs of gold

Our group had an incredible time at Sovereign Hill. There was so much to see and do, I only wish we had more time. It's the perfect activity for kids! As a mom of a 6 and 11 year old, I highly recommend it! The employees at Sovereign Hill are so passionate and entertaining! Thank you Janelle and Jennifer for your hospitality. We will be back soon for some delicious Raspberry Drops and fun times at Sovereign Hill.

Just spent 2 days here and had a magnificent experience. Went with a school group and did the dress up school experience. I really enjoyed getting dressed up in 1850's clothing and the kids had a ball and enjoyed their experience dressing up as school children. The staff were brilliant and so accommodating, thanks to Stephanie who was our school teacher for the 2 days and she really made kids feel comfortable for the 2 days. The kids loved how strict she was and i think they really got a lot out of the experience. The meal we had before the night show was beautifully and the show "blood under the southern cross " was brilliant.

Overall it was a pretty good experience. Went for Christmas in July and the light display which was great and fun (although it was busy, it never felt jam-packed). For an evening event though, there was a strange lull period of about an hour where all the shops were closed and nothing really happened until the carols began (which we thought were live but unfortunately it was just a pre-recording)

Great display of yesteryear with the fantastic atmosphere all around you. I was there for the Christmas in July and experienced the snow effect and light displays down the main street and was very impressed. Highly recommended. The night show Blood on the Southern Cross is well done although a bit long in duration for most children. A suggestion for the children as the show begins would be to explain in 'children's language ' what it is all about.

Sovereign Hill was an overall good experience. There were lots of things to look at and it was a well put together scene. It did feel like I went back in time. However, I believe the workers could put a bit more of an act into it. And act a bit happier. The person running the school clearly didn’t enjoy kids. Anyways, it was pretty good but I don’t ever want to go back. Thanks !

The 'Blood on the Southern Cross' show is a must see. Lots to see and learn. Nice eateries. Very entertaining and talkative staff/volunteers. The gold museum is well worth a look as well.

Have been there many times over the years.is always fun if you are interested in history and such. the mine ride is heaps of fun and they do a very good job on making you feel like you have stepped back in time.

Make sure you walk around all day as sometimes they have pop-up street performances that a fun for the kids to watch.

The only real drawback in the cost of the things in the park, but overall it is a fun time and worth every cent. The old time photos are a great keepsake.

I really liked the Blacksmith, he had a proper forge and everything, but I feel it's a waste of talents just making shoe horses, pots and pans, but if you need proper Iron cookware, it's a great place to get it.

The Gold smelting is always great, just as good when I was a kid as an adult.

Love this place. Love the people and the atmosphere. I have been more than five times and see something new every time. I love the attention to detail and all the small interactions between the actors and people. This place can get quite pricy with all the food and souvenirs.

Really enjoyed the day out.
Bit expensive but it was well worth it.
My teenage girl stood at the door of entry and said it wasnt her thing.
She walked out so happy, heaps to do.
Great family environment.
Bakery was beautiful inside the food was outstanding.
There is a cafe when you walk in about 100meters on your right it huge with a great variety of different types of food.
Once again its expensive so be prepared.

Its all on uneven surface so be steady on your feet.
Only the main rd is flat.
It is wheelchair accessible but make sure iron man is pushing behind.
We had a great overall day.

Nothing like going back to somewhere you'd been to as a kid and NOT being disappointed. It was just as good, with plenty of activities, lots of history and people in costume. The costumed people were wonderful. We saw several little 'scenes' where they interacted with each other while in character. Also the demonstrations were very informative and fun, especially the sweet making where the man explained the process while showing the crowd. He was great with the kids in the audience, keeping their attention the whole time.
We'll be back soon as there was too much for one day ☺

Great day out for family's or for those like me with a live of social and industrial history. Not the cheapest museum but as it really needs a full day to see it all properly and do the underground mine tour it was well worth it. Ticket also includes reviews entry the following day if you missed anything and entry to the Gold museum across the street which continues the story of gold mining in Ballarat area in a little more depth. To complete the story/fill in few gaps I'd suggest a visit to the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka for the in depth story of the Eureka Stockade and to see the original southern cross flag.
