Huge range of everything, good prices and seriously friendly and knowledgeable staff. Bunnings Ballarat response to the arrival of the now defunct Masters chain in town was not just to lift their game. they set the bar so high that they redefined their space. Quite honestly one of the best hardware stores I have ever visited
Worst bunnings I have ever been to. Couldn't find help on products. Couldn't find staff to assist me loading a vehicle. Staff were not knowledgeable about their products. Staff were very slow at serving. Usually enjoy my bunnings experience. Not this one.
Staff are generally helpful but the reason I give this store 1 star is because of the untidiness of the entire warehouse! I understand when it's busy it can be hard to move up and down isles freely but dodging people wasn't the problem. Boxes, ladders, stock and electric lifts blocking the isles everywhere. Stock wasn't matched up on shelves according to the prices labels meaning hunting for the price or trying to find someone to help and moving up and down isles with a trolley is a nightmare. Come on guys, tidy your store up. It's things like that which will drive customers away.
Nice place to visit and brouse.
There is a huge range of things for the home/garden, and the staff are always happy to assist in any way they can. Their caferetia is a good place to take a break and on week-ends there's usually a fund-raising sausage/hamburger stall outside the main entrance.
Theo.
It's big, and you do have to find or wait for staff, but they have SO MUCH STUFF!
I got a Ryobi 18V cordless multi - tool yesterday, plus a drill kit (an economical way to get the batteries for the multi - tool as the drill was effectively only $49 more). I tried using the enclosed nibbler bit to trim some pine beading, and it wasn't really working.
I tried calling and got frustrated with the wait. So I rolled up to Bunnings and talked to the lady at the tool shop. Because I'd been on hold earlier and ended up going physically to the store, she gave me the timber bit (tool blade) for free as a 'Customer Satisfaction' initiative.
This is not the first time Bunnings have done something good. They replaced a drill for me a few years ago too, when they could have decided not to.
I used to gravitate to a local hardware store back in Queensland rather than going to Bunnings, but I've found the Bunnings in Creswick Road, Ballarat to be really good, and it's now my GO TO hardware place.
Pics attached if the multi - tool and few bearing I cut perfectly level with the ceiling using the multi - tool with timber nibbler blade. No way I could have got it so clean without a fool like this, and it's a beauty. If I couldn't see any branding on it, I'd guess it was Hitachi or Makita.

*Helpful and friendly staff.
*Great range of products.
*Competitive prices.
*Plenty of parking.
*Long trading hours.
*Depending an ambient temperatures, can be freezing in winter and stifling in summer. Just a big shed really.
The lowest prices are NOT guaranteed!
Many things like tools, yes, but for building materials, consumables and hardware, local suppliers are MUCH cheaper! Things that are generally not branded, like bolts, timber, steel, drawer runners, and all plumbing supplies are sometimes double, even 10 times the price of a local supplier..
For example, 5/16" flat washers, zinc coated.
Bunnings: $26 /200
Gb fasteners: $2.54 /200
Big difference!
Support local business.
Great varity, staff are usually helpful.
Went to purchase timber with price quoted from their website. Girl at counter quoted different price so obviously I queried and mentioned it was cheaper on website. Got attitude and was told it was a Melbourne bunnings. When I showed her on my phone it was ballarat I was then told "we'll we're getting from different supplier so website is wrong". Is that my fault?? I didn't think spending my money there was such an inconvenience to the staff. My apologies I'll try Whiteheads next time and save you guys the heartache of serving customers.
Big range, low prices, long opening hours. Doesn't stock higher quality brands
Went to Bunnings on Saturday - in the Trade Section Karen has got to be THE most helpful person I have ever met there. Helped load 24 sleepers, 26 bags of Rapid Set and was still friendly and smiling upon completion.
Went back 2 days later and there she was still as friendly as ever. She is the type of person that keeps people coming back. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful to the max.
