Such a huge disappointment. Christmas gathering of 8 for lunch last week. I chose the WA Barra at $36. The VERY small slice of fish was cooked ok however it lacked a crispy, even cooked skin. The two, yellow squash could have been cooked in the microwave and plonked on the plate by my 3 year old, they added absolutely nothing. There was very little sauce. The menu said Kale and yes there was a teaspoon of cooked Kale hiding under one of the squash. As for the strip of ???, still have no idea what it was or why it was there. Overall the meal was terrible and lacked any style (unless the kitchen hand was trying to make a smiley face) skill or flavour.
My friends serve of one, small, belly piece of Rock Ling in beer batter, was very tough and inedible The 'hand' cut chips undercooked, no crunch to them and a stale taste like frozen oven cooked chips. The 'salad' accompanying this dish was simply a bowl of salad mix.
No cucumber, no tomato, no taste and No way will we ever return

Three weeks ago, we hosted our daughter's wedding ceremony and reception at Sails. From the outset, they were professional, caring and completely organised. They listened carefully to all our requirements and met them without exception. We were thrilled with food, drinks, service and ambiance. Congratulations and many thanks to the team. We cannot recommend this venue highly enough as we have had a constant stream of congratulations from all our guests over the last couple of weeks.

Excellent all year around, but my favorite is in winter with it's linen table cloths, warm lighting, friendly service and wonderful food. Also thanks to Melbourne's knack for changing weather often offers up a spectacular backdrop. 😀😀

Place is nice. But the barman with ponytail and woman in plain clothes were horrible. We felt uncomfortable that we were putting them out.

Very ordinary food for the price.
Beautiful setting, service reasonable, compared with what it used to be.

It's sad how far this place has fallen given we are local and have dined year a couple of times a year for the past 5 years. "Fine dining" appearance and price tags, but squashed in with a wedding party and a birthday for 30 ppl, this was not the start to the romantic evening we'd hoped. No offer to take out coats, so we had to ask after 10 minutes sitting with them draped over the chairs we were sitting on.
The "shared" plate quail was really an entree for 1 ($24 for a single quail) and my half was pretty closed to raw on the bone with flaccid skin and lukewarm at best. When I mentioned this to the waitress - she laughed! I don't think her English was anywhere near good enough to be waiting tables.
Our mains arrived less than 5 minutes after the first course was cleared, which we promptly sent back and asked for at least a 15 minute break between courses. Thankfully, they agreed and apologised. 20 minutes and 2 very small serves of blue eye later, we were both left hungry by the small serving sizes (which is unusual for both of us) so we ordered a dessert to share. Which arrived, again, in less than 5 minutes. So with under an hour for a 3 course meal, and we weren't offered tea or coffee, we cut our losses and left. Never again.

Beautiful food. Wonderful desserts. Impeccable presentation. It should be busier. Don't hesitate.

Don't book a 'quiet' dinner when there are two parties booking the venue on the same night! Smokers congregating at the front door make for a smelly dining experience.

One of only a few beachside restaurant in Melbourne, the views are stunning but the ambience does lack a little. Food can be slightly hit and miss which it shouldn't be at the cost. Such potential, it's hard to explain why it's not so much better, may trading mostly on the wedding reception business.
