  An amazing small airport. Very nice staff and nice atmosphere. Pilots pleasant and waved (at least on our trip).

  a good airport for a Small place.
  bad thing is there are no direct flight to big cities Like sydney or melbourne,if we need to visit nig cities ,
  we have to waste time in transit.
  transit time varies up to 2 to 12 hours or more.
  last year when i visit melbourne i had a flight at 10 AM and couple of minutes. i reach melbourne at almost 10 in night.

  After having my baggage left behind in brisbane airport, I went to the Quantas desk where I was helped by a lovely girl named Laura. Throughout the process, I was told by many different people my luggage had arrived, my luggage would arrive, or my luggage was lost. Waste of my time! Laura finally called me and arranged my luggage to be sent from Mackay to Airlie where I was staying. She was the only helpful one throughout the process, thanks Laura!

  Small regional but modern airport. Everything is clean and maintained. Car rental booths are very close to the arrivals area.

  Mackay Airport is a great regional airport that is simple, relaxed and capable of handling the needs of a traveller. The gates are easy to locate and the wait times a minimal. The only things that are not great are the prices for food and beverages (which at all airports, are overpriced) and the unreasonable cost for parking for extended periods of travel. Apart from this, Mackay Airport is a great gateway to the rest of Australia.

  Small airport not busy, kind of ghost like atmosphere but that's more of a positive thing. bus to city usually comes once an hour. Smoking area is also not far for those that need it.

  Horrible and expensive.
  Want to purchase the "combination hydration" deal which is a free bottle of water with purchase of a coffee
  coffee machine was broken so was forced to have instant coffee (as this is the only coffee shop in the airport) then we are told we aren't eligible for the free water "because it's not a 'real coffee'" EVEN THOUGH WE PAID FULL PRICE FOR THE INSTANT COFFEES?!!! One would think out of good will and being we are still paying full price for watered down instant coffee.. anyway. No vegetarian options for food either.
  
  One would think with mackay'a crumbling economy service would be a little better in this town but the entire weekend I have been here it has been AWFUL and I won't be returning.

  What a great airport. Decided to fly back to Brisbane (and then Perth ) rather than drive. Dropped the car off (thanks Hertz) and then loved the easy check in and waiting area. Wish we had regional airports like this in the UK
