Not for the hungry.Â
The food here is an international embarrassment. As sole option for the hungry traveller, Tribs cafe serves a desolate breakfast selection: pallid slabs of egg on thin triangles of toast with or without pork, packaged sandwiches, pre-made rolls scantily filled, or a 7/11 style sausage roll or pie.
Trying to weight the dice roll that is a Tribs coffee in my favour, I ask for the long black to be only half-filled with water. The cashier nods, ignores my request, and the cup is filled to the brim. When I reiterate my request, the cashier takes it away and just tips some of the scalding coffee-scented water out.Â
Of course, this is an Australian airport, so prices are extraordinarily high. If you've got time, and want to eat properly, leave the terminal and go somewhere else. Hungry Jacks isn't far away, and you at least get what you pay for there.
Cairns international is the quickest international terminal that i have checked into and gone through security but is also one of the most baron international terminals to go through once past security. So make sure you have eaten before hand and bring stuff to keep you entertained.
Very helpful staff. Great destination!
Cairns International Airport terminal is the quickest and easiest to check into. Parking is a short stroll from checkin point.
Long queues- not rely set up for big numbers, but friendly staff and sad to be leaving a great region of Australia
The walk from the domestic terminal took longer than expected (but easy to find)
Pass security to get to the food court. It may need to expand soon
Not a power outlet in sight and have to pay for wifi
Cairns international airport is a main port for many flights, especially those for Jetstar. Unfortunately as far as a transfer point goes from the domestic lounge, you will find the walk to the terminal is far and can be hot, this is bad if you fly from Melbourne or Adelaide to a cold climate like Japan and have no checked baggage, you are gonna swelter in your hot clothes on the walk.
Inside the International Terminal, you will find the lack of shops and only a single cafe a disappointment. The food was sub-par for my liking and well over priced. remembering that you can't bring liquids into international screenings, you will find the cafe has no worry about slugging you $5 for a coke or $6 for a small milkshake.
The interior looks outdated on the inside and customs is slow both inbound and outbound, very slow.
My recommendation, use this as a transit port only if there are no other options for your flight
Short waiting times and basic departure lounge with a few shops and a cafe.
A little quiet on a Wednesday morning while waiting to transfer.
