This place is kept beautifully, the views are amazing and the people running the holiday park are friendly and approachable.

Didn't camp here, but pulled over and checked it out while driving the Great Ocean Road. Ended up going on a few hour hike here and did walk through the campsite at the start. Looked super busy - but it was a holiday weekend.

The hiking path carries along the river (I think). It wasn't all that clearly marked so we might have gone off the track, but basically just walked about 90 minutes along the river and 90 minutes back. Be prepared to jump over some rocks and wet surfaces if going this way!

Weather was overcast, but still had a really nice hike here. Lots of variety on the walk and it was pretty deserted on the trail despite the full campsite. If your looking for waterfalls in this area don't do this hike, but if not then I highly recommend!

Couldn't ask for a better spot. Amazingly beautiful location. Good clean bathrooms and we were well looked after with all the information we needed, plenty of firewood and coins for the showers. Best service!
    See you next year.

Decided to take my 3 year old and his mum camping. Cumberland river was the first choice as its where she grew up going, but we hadn't been there in a while. Remember why we came back though. Beautiful scenery, excellent amenities, and first class service. The management took the time to talk to us and ensure our son (who now loves camping) had the best experience. I have nothing negative to report. Absolutely perfect. I will say this however.. Camping is to escape from the hussle and bussle of the city. If you are wanting to party into the early hours of the morning.. Go to the Melbourne cbd and hit a club. Cumberland river rocks!

One of the best camping grounds I've been to. The beach is nearby and there are wayyyy too many places to go fishing. Lots of fish as well. We caught about 5kgs of fish in about 1 hr when we were there.

Nice view but you have to pay with coins in the shower for hot water. And the staff didn't told us.
The bathrooms were really dirty all the time we stay.

Lovely campsite, nice facilities, bathrooms and toilets were amazingly clean. The staff were helpful and friendly and the walk around to Sheoak Falls was beautiful. Note that there's no mobile reception in this valley at all, you need to drive almost all the way to Lorne if you want to make a call.
There's a shop on site, but it has limited stock, so it's best to plan to bring everything you need (or stop in Lorne at the supermarket). The campsite rents out firepits and cast iron plate to cook on over it, and these come with a bag of wood, you'll need to grab some kindling and firelighters though, again from Lorne. We took our two young children along and they had a great time.

I love Cumberland river Caravan Park. Our family have been coming here for about 15 years. We have made solid friendships from the people we have met while camping here. Some of our fondest memories have come from sitting around the communal fire drum. There are great fishing spots, excellent walking tracks, a fantastic beach and of course, the setting. We love this place. That was until this year.
Somehow, this once idyllic serene setting has turned into a concentration camp. A dark, soulless concentration camp. If you want to be treated like a common criminal in a youth detention centre, then Cumberland Park is your destination. If you like being ordered to put out fires at 10:01 pm, instead of 12am, which it was last year (actually, having a condescending, camp guard pour a bucket of water on the fire for you, before shoving the empty bucket on top of a campers head, I kid you not), then Stalag Cumberland is for you. If you enjoy being accused of common vandalism without any proof at all and made to feel like crap, because the toilets got scribbled on, then come on down. By the way, I hope they can offer a sincere apology if they find out that is wasn’t our group of middle aged, professionals, business managers, teachers, police officers, etc. that defaced the toilet block. I doubt they would have the intestinal makeup to say sorry, so I’m not holding my breath…..If you don’t have a problem with stumbling around in the dark outside the other toilet block and trashing your ankle as you don’t see the raised concrete sewer cover that sits up 20cm from the ground, and being laughed at when you say something about it to management, then you should love it here. Being strictly controlled and berated by a power mad maintenance crew, who act like standover men from a criminal cartel when you walk near their mopping seems like fun to you? Then pack your tent and come on down. Just don’t expect to have fun. No communal fires, no combining campsites with others, can’t do this, can’t do that, can’t have too much fun at all.
To be honest, Cumberland Caravan Park is a cool place, but it needs one thing to make it perfect again.. The lease holders need to do some research and get some feedback from the campers and they will find a common theme. Perfect place except for the managers. The current site managers are nowhere near the standard required and need to be moved on. Their customer skills are zero. They are oppressive and unreasonable. They are out and out rude and lack manners. And remember the bit about the bucket on the guys head? Imagine if that was you. My wife tripped over in pitch black on a raised concrete slab and was laughed at and told (assumed) she should not have been drinking alcohol! These were just some of our negative experiences over a 4 day camping holiday. The stories and rumours floating around the rest of the campgrounds over our weekend of other campers experiences were equally horrific and numerous. I simply cannot make this stuff up. They have directly influenced the camping experience for everybody we spoke to. The warm friendly camping atmosphere has vanished completely.
They have ruined the Cumberland River Caravan Park.

Charming place! Kangaroos and ducks wandering right by our tents. However it is a little overpriced. Facilities are decent when it's not busy, however during peak season I imagine it can be quite unpleasant as they would absolutely not be able to cater to the park's potential capacity.

Cumberland River Holiday Park - Where Nature Meets Inconvenience!
What a pity such a beautiful and idyllic location is run by rude and aggressive people. We stayed 3 nights that were paid for in advance but wanted to leave after one. We were awoken each day at 630am by a loud generator. When we asked why the generator had to be turned on so early, we were told we should be up enjoying nature. Moreover, fires had to be out by 10pm and it was too cold to stay up without one. So much for spending the holiday you have paid for as you see fit! The toilets were disgusting also - 2 toilet blocks with 2 cubicles in each for 80+ campsites isn't good enough. A mop and bucket stood in the toilet/shower block all day giving the illusion of cleanliness. On top of the exorbitant peak period tariff of $70 per site per day, campers are asked to pay 20cents for a 5 minute shower. Really?? If you enjoy living in a dictatorship, Cumberland River is the place for you. Bummed!!!

Much cleaner this year. No orange slime in the shower tile grouting anymore. Currently being run by people who care. Note that campfires are becoming more restricted all the time. Find out what's permitted, and whether that suits you, before you decide to stay.
