Nice place to dine. The view is spectacular. The food serving is big and good enough for 2 people.
We stayed at the wonderful nearby DULC cabins and mainly self-catered. However, we ate here in the bistro one night. The food was what one call mid-range, i.e. not fast food and not haute cuisine. It was good and tasty. The room itself is pretty unremarkable but it looks out onto an open area where hoppy creatures can be seen during daylight. At 6.30pm in September it's pretty dark and also cool, so we were very glad to see a fire adding warmth and ambience. The bistro was very full, which I think speaks for itself. Prices fairly matched the food on offer. Everyone seemed happy. This would never claim to be a stunning eatery but it was more than decent enough for our tastes and also, we're guessing, most other people enjoying Halls Gap.
Nice little pub with a pool table. Shame about the customer service though. The lady behind the bar is quite rude.
Absolutely shocking experience, bar staff=terrible, service=horrendous would not recommend this place to my fecal matter after a rough saturday night in oakleigh. Tried to touch my cocka and i wouldnt have a BAR of it, i wont be returning for a minimum of 36 days
When there at 1800 for dinner. Ordered at 1820. Was told there was a bit if delay with the long weekend crowded and was ok with that. One hour and twenty minutes before our meals arrived? Crowd died at around 1900, especially when we arrived before the car park was full and left when the car park was almost empty. Disappointed and will avoid it in the future.
Good pub. I reckon the schnitty is better than the parmie. How bout that view?
A good clean pub with great view good food and friendly staff
The staff was very rude. To be honest the only real good thing was that they had XXXX GOLD ON TAP
Beautiful establishment. Great views of flora and funa and good customer service at bar =)
Halls Gap Hotel has good food and a nice outdoor area.
Over priced items and out of date products
Great meals with a pretty high standard bistro menu. Friendly staff and well presented dining interior. Seems like a hit with the locals.
Generous servings in tranquil surroundings.
Review udated Mar'17 and lost a star for me. The place underwent some renovations recently and has now more seating outside and a terrace at the bar. A new carpet makes the bistro brighter. I miss the salad bar which has been removed. The lemon pepper calamari were nicely cooked but served on a serviette inside a bowl, the chips were good but the salad on the side was dry and tasteless, another serviette under the chips and the dip dish had already soaked up part of the dip. Would be nicer if the serviettes would be left out of the food. The meatball pizza was nicely spiced but overpriced for the size. Still a nice setting with good views and one of the better places for dinner, but the salad and veggie bar was one of its strengths and they are gone now. The menu also appears to have shrunk.
