Went to the boat house for a nice lunch, it was 25 degrees and sunny outside. The lady served us and told us we could sit outside but not on a table of more than two. Once outside there was tables in the shade that weren’t for two, so we sat in one with 4 chairs in the shade and mind you there was many tables Available so it shouldn’t have been an issue but she came outside and told us to move to a table on two on the sun in the hot boiling weather even though there was many tables in the shade and the place was not busy !!!! VERY RUDE LADY

Superb location for a Sunday lunch on a sunny day, with great views over the lake
Shared a grazing plate - plenty for 4 of us.
For main course we had chicken, barramundi and seafood pasta - all were excellent.
Not too crowded and the service was quick and good.

Good coffee, but frosty reception if only having morning coffees. No where near international standard hospitality.

Came to Daylesford for a weekend away with friends, nine of us. The first morning we had breakfast at this cafe and we loved it so much we came back the next morning. The service, food and views are all fantastic. Well done to everyone. We all commented that we would love to come back again.

    Love this place
We come here for a short break every couple of months. Always come here for breakfast or lunch. Sometimes both in 1 day.
    Gorgeous staff. Delicious food.

Appalling service. We wanted to come and have a coffee by the lake. We were turned away because we also had to order lunch, which we would most likely have stayed and had lunch if the staff were not so rude!
The cafe was quiet, with around 90% of the tables empty.

A group of 4 of us walked around the beautiful Daylesford lake and stopped by The Boathouse for coffee and potentially a snack or some lunch.
On arrival we could see 80% of the seats available, the waiter asked if we were having lunch and we informed him we may be staying for coffee and might get some lunch after seeing the menu.
We were told we were unable to sit for coffee and to leave. We were told to go over the road to another cafe as they were only open to customers paying for lunch.
We were quite shocked and felt so uncomfortable standing in the doorway having not even looked at the menu. We awkwardly decided to be seated anyway, then sighted the highly expensive uninteresting menu and decided to leave.
The 4 of us went elsewhere and enjoyed first and second rounds of delicious coffee, a wonderful lunch - with sides, and dessert! The Boathouse missed out on our business and I will not be recommending them or returning.
I think The Boathouse needs to rethink their business strategy.

Reasonable set up on the lake but the breakfast was 'polished bogan' and one of the older ladies who looked like an owner was incredibly rude to our well behaved children. Wants to be good but I'll be sticking to the Larder the next time I'm In town.

The lady at the boat hire place is quite blunt and rude.

It was Australia day and it was obviously busy. I saw there were still boats available and i asked if there was any that were shaded.

Her response "what does it look like?" pointing to the boats. I told her i asked as you may be able to attach them.

She treated another couple asking about wait times with simular bluntness and seemed to not be keeping track of the times on boats anyway.

She probally was just hot and tired or something but no need to respond like that to a question.

Give it a few stars for good views.

There was a group of five of us that came in about five minutes before the place was closing. Although well within their rights to tell us food was not being offered anymore, this was not said, and they allowed our group to order food, regardless of the time. The food itself was delicious, and the service by the staff was amazing. I'd go back again for sure.

My husband and I stopped by the Boathouse for lunch as we had heard it was under new management. The change has made a world of difference, with a friendly greeting on arrival. We were quickly offered a choice a tables and choose to sit inside.

Prompt, efficient service with a good selection of wines. The menu offers many options and being vegan, there were a number of menu choices that could easily be adapted by the accommodating chef to be vegan friendly.

I chose the grilled mushrooms with a side of potatoes and my husband chose the gummy fish and chips. The wait staff quickly returned to say that the chef was switching sourdough bread for the butter laden brioche on the menu to be vegan friendly. This was greatly appreciated.

Overall, great food, friendly efficient service with stunning views make it a perfect stop for lunch.
