It was basic, clean, close to old city and cheap. They have vintage rooms and the price is cheaper than the other hotels in Vienna. It is near the tram and bus stations. U-Bahn station is about 700 m far away from here, 15 minutes for a walk. It was clean. There is always a concierge in the lobby.

Home away from home. Whenever I come to Vienna, I try to stay in the Baronesse. Their modern rooms are comfortable and have their own coffee makers, their traditional rooms have a nice ambience and both room types have mini fridges and fans.
The wifi is pretty decent, it goes down ocassionally, especially in the late evening, but they do their best to get it back up and running. Their breakfast area is a beautiful old cafe (now only used for hotel breakfast), it's spacious and comfortable. The staff are always friendly and helpful, whether it's needing directions, sight seeing tips, restaurant recommendations, or even to chat a bit. There is always coffee and tea available at the reception desk and a (usually) stocked vending machine on the mezzanine level with the basics (soap, chocolate, alcohol).
My only suggestion is, if you're a light sleeper, don't book a room overlooking the street, the trams and street noise will wake you up awfully early. If you are a heavy sleeper, definitely book one of these rooms, they're spacious with a nice view of the trams and shops.response / report this review -

Large spaceous rooms while are very comfortable. Friendly staff and a great location. However, our room was situated next to a busy room making it hard to get to sleep with the sound of cars and trams. Overall an good hotel for the money.

2 star hotel/pension rated 4 by some corrupt city official. Clean, though. If you get a deal (_well_ below 50 EUR/night), then it's an okay place to crash, though the noise from the streetcar and the vague smell of old smoke is bothersome. --- My advice: in this price range, Ani-Falstaff is a better choice, for instance.

Large room with carpeted floors and old fashioned furniture. Very comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Nice staff. The tram passes but the street is very quiet and there's not much noise. If i've to return to Wien i'll stay in this hotel again. Near the university and the city hall.

Very nice old world charm and if you get an inside facing Room with a balcony its a wonderful place to sit and just take in the peaceful atmosphere.

Everyone was very polite and helpful. I regret not having breakfast there. I went downstairs before leaving and discovered that the breakfast lounge was lovely! Next time
