I am a new customer for a 2 year lease contract.

It was agreed several days in advance that the car should be delivered on Friday morning. Then on Friday morning, I was informed that the car can not be delivered until the next day. I requested to deliver the car before 11:30am because I had an appointment at 12mid-day.

Then on Saturday at 10:30 am, I was told that my DL is missing. I already had submitted the electronic DL a week prior. Had to take a copy again and sent it.

At 12, when the car was rescheduled for delivery, I got a call from operations that it will take a other 2 hours for the car to be delivered. By this time, I was already too late and missed my hospital appointment, still without any car.

Driver called at 1pm asking for my location, when I already gave all the delivery details twice to the account manager.

Well eventually, the car it got delivered.

I also want to mentioned that it took me 5 days to get the initial offer send via email from the Sales with all the specifics leasing details and fees. Had to send daily reminders.

But the rates I was offered from Thrifty are very good, better than my previous car rental company. I had switched companies because Thrifty’s rates are approx AED 500 per months less than what I paid with Car Fare, where I was a long term leasing custom for over 6 years. So let’s hope that this can only get better.

So if you are planning to hire from Thrifty, make sure to allow plenty of time to get your “ducks” in a row.

I will review this review once I have more experience with them.

Good monthly car rental available here.

Downsides: little bit difficult to get, not too far from metro.. but not exactly walking distance.

Please never rent from this company. I was rented a car with an expired registration and while I was in possession of the car I received 2 fines (more than 6 months ago) because the registration was expired. I told thrifty and I was told to send pictures of the fine to a particular person and I was told it would be handled. I am now in the process of buying a car and upon registering it I discovered neither fine had been paid. I have been trying to deal with this for over a week and no one seems to know what to do as each person I speak with is telling me something different. This company is only good at taking money that’s it.

I have signed a quote for my new lease to start on 28 August (I have not signed the lease yet). I was told there would be a aed2000 deposit and I agreed to that.

I have been with thrifty over the last year and on the day my premium is meant to go off each month, I receive a call asking if it's fine to charge my card and I receive a receipt after.

This time, my premium went off 4 days before I expected, I did not receive a call confirming they could charge my card, and I did not receive a receipt thereafter.
I called thrifty yesterday morning requesting the receipt (which they agreed to send) and they still did not receive it by this morning.

What's more, on my previous lease, the deposit was always BLOCKED on my credit card, which a was happy with. This time, without warning, they CHARGED the 2000 deposit to my credit card, which I was not expecting. Which means I either have to pay interest on that 2000 or find a way this month to pay an extra 2k on my credit card.

I would like to cancel my lease with Thrifty before it starts on the 28th (I have not signed the contract yet).
I want to cancel because the level of service has dropped in the accounts department and because I was charged the deposit instead of having it blocked like they did all of this last year.
Update: my complaint has been resolved and I change my rating from 1 star to 4 star

I wanted a half star for this branchI waited for 1 hour and after they took all the money they wanted they never bothered to tell me my car wasn't ready and when I asked them to refund my money they offered another car I waited another 10 mins and the car comes and it was filthybad customer service and cars very upset

Total hassle free rental experience, however the car smelt like if someone smoking there for months despite the sticker in the dashboard encouraging the opposite. Car brake pads were in its end of life which could compromise the security.
