Located within a 10-minute walk from the Mall of the Emirates and metro station, the Grand Excelsior Hotel is designed in the style of a cruise ship and offers spacious rooms. It features a rooftop pool, fitness centre and massage treatments. Free on-site covered valet parking is provided.

Each spacious and elegantly decorated room has a flat-screen satellite TV and air conditioning. All rooms at the Grand Excelsior have a work desk, an electric kettle, and a coffee maker.

A traditional British pub, a lobby café and a nightclub feature at this alcohol-licensed hotel. Small snacks can also be enjoyed by the pool.

The hotel is 6 km from the Palm Jumeirah and 8 km from Emirates Hills Golf Course. Dubai International Airport is 35 km away and a car rental service and a tour desk are also available.

    Had a grand time here.

I'm so at home, I wish I can remember all their names as all of them are awesome! Ate Kristine is on the TOP of my list.

Been in contact with them days before my stay & they are treating me like a royalty already I have them make some special arrangement for our room & OMG they exceeded my expectation.

When in Dubai, this is my home :)

A good budgeted hotel in Al Barsha 1 near to the Mall of Emirates (10 minutes walk to the mall). The rooms are bigger than other hotels available in Dubai. Within 100 dollar per night along with taxes you can avail Executive room.

It is a good place and you get rooms at affordable cost. It's somewhat far from hot of the Dubai city though. But the help desk Dubai tours and travels helps tourist for sight seeing arrangements.

    Good hotel.
Does not feel like a cheap per-hour place. So that’s good given the area.
    Easy access

Gaudy hotel from last century. Old furniture, not very well maintained. No free WiFi. Says it's 4 stars, not sure why. Location is good though. No major issue other than there are better hotels for the price. I was here for an event, world never stay here otherwise.

The dinner buffet was kinda bad. Most dishes were fish and given that I don't eat fish, my only options were the mini-steak in sauce that was empty (which was refilled after 20 minutes of waiting with 4 pieces that didn't have any sauce - and tasted bland - which immediately got consumed) and some spinach, white rice and mashed potato. And honestly, AED 105 is not worth mashed potato and spinach and white rice!

    POSITIVES:
Location. Hotel is located at 10 mns walk from one of the best mall in Dubai and 15 mns walk from the nearest metro station. The region where the hotel is located is in the middle of Dubai and not far from all the places you wanna visit in Dubai.
    Room is spacious.
Gala dinner was nice on New Year’s Eve, ambiance as well, food was good and generous and alcohol was open. Dessert was lame (There was a cockroach on the wall, I asked the waiter to remove it which he did discretely)
Nice little gym on the last floor and nice small pool on the roof, even though some frustrated men just go there wearing their clothes just to watch women in swimsuit.
Free Wi-Fi is above average and unlimited throughout the hotel.

    NEGATIVES:
Cleanliness. No standards regarding cleanliness. One day they bring one towel the other day they don't bring. One day they refill the bar, the other day they don't. We asked several times for the room to be redone cause cleaners are lazy. We found 3 cockroaches in the bathroom during our 2 weeks stay. Hotel windows are dirty.
Maintenance is poor. Some important electrical outlets do not work, Closet was broken, some lamps are not working. The room is poorly lit. Water pressure in the shower is low. Sink was clogged for several days and maintenance guys were not able to open it until a few days before we left. When we arrived at the room the fridge was not working. It was replaced immediately by a working one from maintenance.
Free bar was not refilled daily.
You have to call reception several times to obtain what you want. Many times, reception did not answer.
Beware of the hidden cost. We booked the room for 2 adults and 2 children. But don't be surprised that your hotel will consider that you are coming only with your partner and there is no bed for your children to sleep on. Renting a bed for your children will cost you 40 to 50 usd per night. Because of that, they will bring you only one or 2 towels (sometimes none), and refill the free bar only for 2 persons.
There are 2 night clubs in the hotel. And every night until early morning you hear the music and the loud bass. If you have light sleep, try to get a room on a higher floor or on the other side (we were in the 1st floor over one of the night clubs). At 3:30 to 4 am (it happened 2 times) night clubbers leave the hotel mostly drunk (They are mostly Saudis) and they cannot control their shouting. We were woken up 2 times because of that. One night there was even an incident where a Saudi drunk woman made a big incident that lasted for 30 mns.
I was accommodated prior to my stay in this hotel by my company in Ibis which is a 3 stars’ hotel for one month, and my experience there was way better and smoother than my 2 weeks stay in this 4 stars’ hotel.
Even though the location of the hotel is nice as I said in the positives, it's obvious that when the hotel was built, there were no buildings around it, and the view from the hotel was nice. Now, the hotel is surrounded by residential ugly but modern buildings that turn their backs to the hotel which has considerably lowered its value and obscured any view it had before.

It is as it says very grand. Rooms are large and cleaned daily and hotel has a small swimming pool and massage centre. Lovely decor is amazing. Has a nightclub so request opposite side if you have kids. Which they are good at accommodating. Reasonable prices. Very pleased. They dont really give late check out, and check in does take a while.

The room is large and comfortable. The TV wasn't working correctly; so it was replaced with a different TV right away. The location is very convenient and the Mall of Emirates is within walking distance. The food we tried at the hotel is average, but there are a lot of choices around the area.

I would not recommend this hotel. The rooms were very unclean and unmodern. It was only possible to flush the toilet once in a hour. The curtains were also not working. We had to ask the house keeping to change the bedclothes, because it was unbelievable dirty. In our other room, the water was flowing from the tub making the ground full of water.
The check in and out was very slow!

Yes it may be cheaper than the other hotels near by, but you will have a bad time there. The reception was very slow and awful. Me and my friends had to wait forever to get our room keys because the rooms are not ready yet. The check in and check out processes were very long. The rooms were old, the wall paper was damaged, the bed made noises, my bedside lamp was broken, I couldn't sleep because of the night club inside the hotel is very loud. Deffinitely the worst 4 stars hotel I have ever been at.

Rooms are spacious and they serve a very good breakfast. But the service is sloppy and staff is lazy. You have call 2-3 times before they send the cleaners. But the good thing that it's very close to mall of emirates and it's easy to get to metro.
