The River Club offers a nice mix of bar, pub, restaurant, golf practice place and conference venue with a dash of Kizomba, Bachata and Salsa classes thrown in on Wednesday evenings. The clientele is thus quite diverse. It is a pleasant and relaxed place where one can eat pizza and the usual, mostly fried food. What needs improvement is the hygiene in the bathrooms.
My favourite way to beat the Monday morning traffic. Many cups of coffee and 120 golf balls on the range! Great for early morning client meetings.
Hitting a few balls is always good here. I enjoy it whenever I visit. I cannot say anything about the food because we brought our own food and braai'd there. Most of our people left after eating but a few of us were still drinking. Then we were chased out and was told to leave because they want to clean. So thanks Peter for that.
I only visited the conference venue today so it would not be fair to comment on the other places The River Club has to offer.
The conference venue served its purpose, though. It was spacious enough to house the 150 patrons that were planned for. The venue supported our audio-visual needs in that there were mounted speakers and a projector. (We should have arranged for a PA system, though, because hearing from the rear of the venue was challenging.)
The toilets were pristine! I liked the emphasis on water saving given Cape Town's water crises. Notices regarding water saving were posted all around. It was also obvious that much attention was given to the decor. My compliments to the interior designer. The contemporary and contextualised African style was clear.
The catering staff were very attentive. Water bottles were replaced without asking. The finger lunch we ordered was superb, thank you. The views, on stepping out onto the deck, were scenic.
I would recommend this as a conference venue any day. I am just sorry that I did not get an opportunity to try out the golf offerings.
Slug And Lettuce food was the worst eating experience ive had in my life ever. The fish and chicken was way below fresh and I had one bite of each plate and was forced to spit it back into my plate. It was really nauseating. I will always go back to hit some balls but will never ever eat there again.
Great venue for conferences and functions. Excellent food and facilities. Whether its for hitting golf balls or sitting through a conference the venue is ideal children friendly
I attended a conference here and it is a great venue!
A big meeting hall with a outside seating area overlooking the golf driving range.
Nice venue. Definitely worth a stop. Thanks to Craig for arranging a free bucket of golf balls to hit.
ITS A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN GO OUT FOR A GOOD FOOD AND DRINKS AND JUST RELAX AND MEET SOME GREAT FRIENDS AND PEOPLE
Pleasant outdoor eating at the Slug and Lettuce. Good service with a smile! I enjoyed my Beef fillet salad very much indeed.
Nice vibe, yum food and all round nice atmosphere. Service was really good. Impressed. Lovely spot to go enjoy your weekend with the kids.
Always a lovely vibe at the River Club; on-the-ball watrons eagerly attending to your food and drinks. Ample parking available with floodlights and security personell on duty. Never a regret going there! ☺
Had lunch at the Slug & Lettuce at The River Club. It has a nice pub feeling to it. I had the vegetarian pizza which was good. Overall ecperience was good. Giving it 4 stars as the service was a bit slow.
I would recommend it for a business day lunch.
I wanted to hire some clubs to spend some time on their driving range. Jacque, who is frontline at the golf shop where very unfriendly and not at all helpful. I dont recomend their hospitality.
Had a bit of an issue regarding membership fees. After discussions with management this was sorted out and I was refunded. Thank you Jarryd for assisting me with regards to this.
I used to be a member, but when I quit the club I gave them over one month notice, but they were still charging me after they said to me there were no more charge .
I asked them many times to get the money back, but they are just like blind ,no body reply me.
I had been join the club almost one year , untill I quit the club I did not get member card ,I had to asked them for balls evey time I have been there .
By the way I also lost my car keys at there, cost me over R3000
to get new one, how can I trust you people who work there!
This is a delayed rating review, but it was overdue.
After standing in the queue for 2 draughts on a Friday afternoon just before happy-hour, I placed my order at 16:58 and received my order around 17:05, I then denied to pay the full amount of R80 instead of R48 as the order was given during happy hour. After discussing this with the waiter the manager was called.
The manager did not even give us a chance to explain but denied further service to be rendered to us.
I did not want to make a scene as to why are we been denied.
A great venue for conferences. Plenty of parking and quite a few rooms to have different speakers.
