What a host!!! Johan, many thanks for the guitar & songs while we had excellent unannounced dinner @ the Purple House. We felt so welcome and the accommodation, bedding & space in the "old Dam" were fantastic! We can any time recommend this guesthouse. Andries,Wilma & Fransie

Slept over in July 2017 .We highly recommend the Purple House in Smithfield as an overnight stop. Clean, comfy beds and a friendly host.
The breakfast was also great and our doggie was also very pleased with the place and space. The Pub in town ( Buckley's) with a restaurant is also highly recommended. Prices are fare and people and service excellent. This isnt a fancy place but it has everything you should need at an affordable price and it is interesting, creative and has atmosphere.
We will certainly stay over again on route to the Eastern Cape.

Johan is a fantastic host and the new room we stayed in was lovely plus a wonderful king size bed. Johan also recommended places to visit and eat. We loved our stay !

We would like to thank Johan at Purple House b&b for taking us in on short notice and showing us true Smitfield hospitality. The occommodation was great but the service and friendliness from the owners even beter. I would recommend this b&b to anyone visiting this town. We will definitely make use of them again if we are in the area.
