Great family friendly spot. We went on a Sunday and there was live music, canoeing, jumping castles and a great vibe. There's even a little farm with cows, pigs, goats, bunnies, guinea pigs and chickens. And the food It's good. Had the fried calamari and squid head starter, the lamb curry main and a créme brûlee for dessert.

Food was awesome. Service friendly and efficient. Venue chilled and felt really rested after an afternoon in the country. Kids had a ball. Rowing, pony rides, play park all with child minders overseeing it all. Great fun for all.

The restaurant shares space with a lodge and family venue. We had a picnic on the bank of the dam. The food was great, the kids entertained while we relaxed. Great hosts. Definitely recommend both the Fat Olive and MacDonalds Farm.

Simply loved The Fat Olive!! The food was amazing, staff attentive and professional, service great and drinks kept flowing!! The portions were big and more than sufficient!! Thank you so much Angelo and team for making it a memorable day, we will definitely return and recommend your restaurant to anyone and everyone!!

The restaurant overlooks a dam where you can take a paddle on a boat. Plenty of things to keep kids occupied.
The food was ok, we were about 150 people, so the fact that they managed to feed us all a plated meal was impressive.
Access is via a dirt road, and the parking is not paved, so it might be a bit tricky for the low cars during the rainy season.response / report this review -

Great lunch with the family and kids. The kids were busy all afternoon. The peri peri chicken and calamari was lekker. Service was quick, and friendly. Really enjoyed the day.

Nice outdoor place to have lunch. Food was good but not the best. Didn't have to wait long for it either. Plenty things for you kids to do.

Our party didn't receive the greatest service here, and I found the portions to be quite small for the high prices. At least there's a small petting zoo and jungle-gyms for kids to enjoy.

The manager today turned a decent experience to a negative one by insisting I pay for two entire meals after ordering one meal with an "extra off" item. Figure your billing out and consider giving customers the benefit of the doubt at times if you want to be competitive! You gained R50 but lost a few thousand in terms of future clients.

A good place to spend a relaxed afternoon with friends in pleasant surroundings. We had a large table and ordered a variety from the menu. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will go back if I get the opportunity.
