I have heard about the Tatham Gallery and the visit was exceptional. Immaculate and exquisite building. Loved the art and finished of my visit with a wonderful latte and carrot cake on the beautiful balcony of the coffee shop. Admission is free. A treasure in PMB.

Well worth a visit. Contemporary South African art as well a few old masters. The restaurant is obliging, friendly and makes wonderful food. Lovely soups!

Surrounded by the Gandhi Statue, the Garden of Peace, the start of the 1921 Comrades Marathon and the PMB Town Hall, the Tatham Gallery provides a good insight into work of South African artists. It has a good collection of art and some pieces of major artists like Renoir of the late 19th century and of the 20th century. Spread over two floors, it is a nice place to spend some time perusing art.

The gallery has a large "ballroom" type room used for auctions or displays.

At the exit, there is a nice motorised wire ship that the kids enjoyed watching. We visited on a Sunday when the shop selling local art was closed. Some parking is available on the premises, otherwise street parking is available on the side roads. There is no admission fee although a donation box Is provided at the exit.

An absolute gem.
Perfect for a date and wonderful if you need a moment for inspiration.

A good, but small, collection of local art, supplemented by some minor works by major artists of the 20th and late 19th centuries. Nice feel. Some art quite eclectic, some potentially disturbing for children, but generally interesting. Very nice restaurant / coffee bar. Small shop with interesting local art, supporting local artists. A nice place to spend a few hours. Parking a bit limited, but generally available.
