Lovely back to nature feel, close to the beach. Well kept terrain. Monkeys we can handle, but a real pest were the Hadeda/Ibis' loud, continual haa- haaing from before 4.00 in the mornings, waking babies, interrupting all peace and quiet. I won't go to TO Strand again because of this.

Love the area for its commitment to conservation - a few of the main routes between the coastal road & the beach are tarred but many of the side joining roads in the residential area are still dirt roads but kept in fairly good condition. They even had a dune rehabilitation program in place during our visit & then of course many displayed signs w.r.t fines that will be incurred for illegal dumping, littering etc. The properties themselves are also really nice with a lot of the fauna, vegetation, trees etc all being saved & I believe, things in place for people wishing to cut down trees - for example, if cutting down a tree or trimming it can improve ones sea view, it's not just a straight forward process of go ahead & do it - I believe one has to request permission to do so. The negative to the area may be that one needs to drive out of the area for their groceries, petrol etc but then towns like Port Edward are within about 7Kms reach of Leisure Bay. The beaches themselves, although not having any tidal pools, must be about the best on the South Coast - we thought both Kids Beach & Peter Pan Beach were really picturesque & excellent for bathing in the right tide. All in all, a really nice alternative for Margate & the surrounding areas should anyone wish to look at retiring down the South Coast a little way away from all the hustle and bustle or to visit away from the maddening crowds - guess it does have its busy periods but when we were there, visits to the beach & just exploring the area in general on foot revealed it to be really pleasant - almost makes one want to make that move down there.

Best facilities and clean and upmarket camping and housing. Great venue for weddings and school camps. Its a park and stay holiday venue. All you need at one amazing place

It is a small little town about 12km from the Wild Coast Sun. Beautiful unspoilt beach, very quiet, no shopslove it!

Great location being right on the beach, with seaviews from most chalets. Beds are not comfortable, nor are the amenities that great, but this is a value for money place, and it is very hard to find anything comparable. Camping is also available

Clean & well maintained. Loads of camping space & lots of chalets. Secure.
Short walk to a nice coach.
On site shop for basics.
Port Edward a few minutes away.
Look out for their specials.

After coming to this area for 25 years and supporting TO strand as a house owner in the area, we now have to pay R80 to get into the shop area.
It used to be awesome to get food from the take away shop but now it is R80 entrance fee on top of your food.
So for a magnum ice cream I now have to pay R130.
No more visiting all the family in the camping or chalets area's.
Everytime the children want to go visit their friends in the resort it costs the same as a sun city valley of waves entrance fee.
If you are worried about security why not let someone sign in another person as every other place in SA.
