Very beautiful with a rich history. The tour guides are very informative and friendly.
A small cave that takes roughly 45 minutes tlwith an area that you need to duck walk or crawl if you are tall. Can become tricky for older people as there are a lot of steps aswell

The cave tour was amazing I really enjoyed it! We had a great tour guide he was very funny! He made us laugh and had some great fact's about the caves and the dig sites ! There are some tight spaces to go through ! So if u are on the small side it was no problem ! Wel worth it ! And there are a lot of stairs so be prepared but it was nice and not that bad !

Lovely experience. Great staff and facilities. Very interesting tour. The caves were cool and fascinating. The tout guide was engaging and amusing. If you are claustrophobic, there is a section which is very narrow and difficult to navigate if you are tall. Lots of stairs, both on the descent and ascent, over 200. Well lit and maintained inside. Safety gear provided.

It was overall pretty interesting. The cave had been modified for easy access, like concrete steps with railings for an easy decent. It's worth the Rand.

Interesting exhibition and impressive cave. Good for a short visit (recommend: 15 minutes exhibition, 1 hour cave tour).

Interesting to see and a very informative guide. Group sizes were a little on the large side to really appreciate the caves. The route through takes you into some quite small spaces, tunnels about 1m tall that most will need to crawl through. Hard hats are needed but only come in adult sizes. If bringing very young children, better to bring a cycle helmet for them if you have one.

Beautiful experience. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our guide, Danny, was phenomenal. Bursting with information and full of jokes that had us all laughing. Would recommend that everyone visits the Sterkfontein Caves at lease once in their lives.

Excellent tour. All visitors go on tour at set times (every half hour I think). Very informative and interesting guides. Great morning out, especially with the Maropeng visitor centre too.

A great place to visit with family/friends. Cave guides show you where one of the oldest Australopithecus africanus fossils (Mrs Ples) was found as well as an eerie underground lake - loved it. The cave is as expected a constant 16°C; wear a hat and comfy shoes, when going to the caves expect 5/10 exertion and some tight spaces.

Had a wonderful time in the caves. The guide was knowledgeable (Danny) and very friendly. He waited for the whole group before sharing his information. He checked to ensure that everyone was fine. Showed formations with his torch and waited while photographs were taken. Answered all questions.

Amazing place. The guides give great information. The cave is a nice cool temperature. A nice change from the outdoor heat. Wear flat shoes and old jeans cos you will be required to crawl through some places

The Sterfontein Caves are an amazing site to go see. The guide tour is very informative and the guides are extremely excited to share and impart their knowledge with all the guests. The caves themselves are exciting to go in and explore. Please note that there are a lot of stairs going into and out of the caves and some areas are very small and tight. The Sterkfontein Caves are a must see for all South Africans and any visitors to south Africa.
