Overpriced from lodging to juice. Seems it has gone downhill from the last good review. Not worth the visit.

The road to the Lodge is terrible, it is a government road. The staff are very friendly. Dinner was included in our package and it was a lot of great food. Steak, chicken, sossage, pap en sous, veggies and desert. Very quiet due to the location. Good for a city getaway.

Savannah Game Reserve and River Retreat, the river is only included in the wedding venue, very far from the Lodge. Even though they fixing, the venue needs some serious tlc. Their biggest asset is definitely their staff, Susan, Julia, Patrick, James, they make feel welcome and they really carry you on their hands.

We stayed in the tented chalets. It is fairly rustic, but in need of maintenance. Most of the fencing along the pathways and verandas are absent.
Breakfast is included and we added a Friday set dinner and Saturday boma braai. Overall the food is very limited and overpriced and unfortunately self catering is not an option. First morning only had one cereal, which by the next day we were told had run out. No fruit or other healthy options for breakfast. There is one fruit juice and some toast, but you better get some quickly. If any person decides to have 2 there is a good chance you won't have any. No real coffee, not even filter.
Friday set dinner for R150 was a cottage pie, with desert being peaches and custard. Completely overpriced.
There is no real welcome when you arrive and nobody to show you around or explain how things work. You have to really ask around if you want to know about meals etc. No info given regarding activities when you arrive or where you can walk drive etc.
There seems to have been a playground, but it is completely overgrown and not really safe for kids.
Overall disappointed and overpriced, especially regarding meals.response / report this review -

Terrible road to get there even if you have a 4x4. Prices are expensive for what you get. This place is not well kept.
