It was worth an extra walk around the village to wait for a table on the verandah to open up. Our two dogs were made to feel welcome and the food was good! We will be back to sample some of the other good looking food items.

Good service, great food and a very good atmosphere! Excellent view as well.
I had the Eisbein - was really well prepared! Worth every penny!
Wy wive had the battered fish - was rally good (for me), but she complained that the fish was too fresh for her ☺️

With all respect the German beer is unfamiliar to most people. Just a suggestion - why don't you offer a very small "tot"glass of the beer to taste, to customers, so that they can choose a flavour of beer that they will enjoy. A Namibian beer like Windhoek Draught will be a very popular choice as well.
The waiters can also do with training on how to attend or assist the customers in selecting beer.
Some of the waiters come across as uncertain and "dont care". With the assistance of management and good training they will do better to attend to customers.
However your food is excellent. That is why we return on a regular basis.

What an absolutely terrible experience! We were seated to watch the rugby, had already ordered drinks and food when Gail (the woman behind the till) rudely threw down the reserved sign onto our table only to inform us that the table had been reserved for 18h00. I then explained that the sign was not here when we arrived and our waiter knew nothing about it, Gail the raised her voice at me and said "I put the sign there myself so who would've moved it then?" Openly implying that I had been the one that moved it! We decided to leave. Clarens is supposed to have pubs that offer a homely and warm atmosphere of a personal touch but this place is so commercialized that they don't care about the customer, as long as the seats are full. Gail should not be working there nor should she be working with people at all!! A complete let down and disappointment thanks to Gail!!

Great location, but the guy who runs it is unbelievably rude and does not deserve your custom at all. A simple question - do you have anything gluten free for my mum who has to eat gluten free was met with blank stare and a brusque claim that nothing at all on the menu is gluten free and can't be made so. It's fine not having gluten free stuff but you don't have to be rude and dismissive about it. If you can't be hospitable you shouldn't be in hospitality. Until that guy changes his bad attitude I recommend everyone avoid - no reason to be rude and arrogant.
