One of the oldest bars in Johannesburg it gives a genuinely bar experience with bar food (not advised for healthy eaters or vegetarians). Great for watching sports or soaking a random conversation

What a great place. Very honest place , what you see is what you get. Sardines , oysters , calamari salad , it all tasted very fresh , and the pizzas have a perfect crust. It was our first time , but i got the feeling the place hasnt change much over the years , which is a good thing. A great mix of people , nice vibe.

It is our local. We enjoy the owners, waiters , food and drink. The Radium really tries to keep the Magic of the place.

Always a nice vibrant venue. Would be good if they provided parking security though. Food was nice.

Looks very divey, and it is. But its a great place to watch the rugby, or have a beer while reading the paper.

It's like "De Olde Pub" and "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. They have a pizza specialness Tuesdays that's delicious and great value for money. So even though I live in the south of Jozi, I collect my buddies who live that side of town and have a get together.

If you are looking for a dirty overpriced bar then this is the place for you. I don't even know where to start.

The thick sticky layer of dirt on the plastic table cloths kept me from resting my arms, in the same way you would have a hover poop at the Cairo train station. The delightful jar filled with rancid water on the table was supposed to be an ashtray. It's the type of thing you find in a crust punk squat. Yuk

And then there is the food. The pizzas are okay but anything else off the menu is totally overpriced. I ordered the steak, medium rare. It was supposed to come with sauce and olives. I went for the chips and veg option. The rather small steak looked like it had been bitten off the cow by a caracal. It was overcooked and came with three rather pathetic olives. The chips were okay, the veg was that typical partly mashed overcooked stuff you get in school hostel, edible with some flavor but nothing special.

Then comes the bill. At R180 for my half macerated overcooked steak with three pathetic olives I felt totally scammed. Sure the beer was decently priced, but that hardly makes up for the daylight robbery of the main meal. Will I go again? Probably not. Will they care? Well if the general level of cleanliness and quality of food is anything to go by I don't think my withholding my patronage will make much difference.

As a final aside they do have live jazz, and if you have any reason to go to the Radium, this would be it.

This jazz club is incredible. Went there for dinner and some jazz, the Radium trio were wonderful - particularly the drummer - we were mesmerised. The food is really good too and our waiter was top notch. Awesome night out!
