Part of the hotel are very tired and old. Staff is doing everything to make you feel welcomed. Furnishings and interior needs major care and replacement. Good air con, which we needed in December. Breakie was okay and plentiful. Parking on site was full, but we were welcomed into the basement parking. Pool is covered up and not functional the first day and open the second day. Safe area and close to the center of town. Our room was very noisy and some windows had big gaps and no locks letting noise in. We decided to move to a newest room to avoid noise and to get some rest for the big trip back home to America and it was very good. Parking assistant is a good and funny fella! Spa treatment was very good.

If you are heading for South Africa's wine country then Stellenbosch is a good stop, you gave few hotel options, however a good choice is the Protea Dorpshuis & Spa, it is located just off the city centre opposite the Rupert museum. If you don't have a car it is not far to walk into town from the hotel. The hotel is a little dated but it makes up for it in character and charm. The best rooms are the duplex suites with a kitchen and lounge downstairs and a nice spacious open ceiling bedroom upstairs. Sadly there is no gym but they have a sauna and jacuzzi. There is a nice restaurant with a good home cocked meals and they serve breakfast from 6.30 to 10.30 and dinner from 19 to 22. There also a small but very nice bar next to the restaurant and the lobby. They have a small pool on the inner yard as well as a small but very good and inexpensive Spa. Overall a very nice hotel but the WiFi is patchy and it would have been great with a gym so there could be some improvements

Much more than i expected. Much more than i needed! What a nice place to stay. I only stayed for two days and i am sad to go because "who wants to leave a piece of heaven behind"? Thanks Gerty Munro and staff!!
