Otter's Haunt is a wonderful educational attraction. I take my Grade 11 Geographers there each year to learn more about the Vredefort Dome and the Vaal River. The river rafting trips that they offer are fantastic and their guides are wonderful.

What a great spot. A really beautiful bush camp, complete with a kitchen/dining pavilion, swimming pool, braai facilities, and a river for rafting, fishing, and cooling off in the hot afternoon sun. We've visited several times (Guinea fowl cottage) and come for nature, the quiet, walks on the islands, and dipping in the river.
They also offer guided boating/tubing trips down the river; real hands-on stuff in small groups, which turns out to be nice because you get to appreciate the experience and take it all in (different from the giant crowds you'll typically see at some of the nearby placesnoisy!!).
We usually stay for 2-3 nights on our way to Golden Gate or the Eastern Cape, but you could easily spend a whole week herego off the grid and decompress to nature's rhythms!response / report this review
