Excellent condition, well maintained and the information is easily accessible to a range of ages. You'll need at least 2 hours to move through everything.

We were welcomed and everything was clearly explained to us. How to use the audio guides and where we could go etc. The exhibits were fascinating. We had coffee and munchies at the coffee shop afterwards. The service was good and the food was delicious.

A museum in Africa for the people of the world. The origin centre offers visitors a unique experience of Africa's rich, complex and sometimes mysterious past.

It jumps from 75,000 years to 4,000 rather suddenly and the majority of the museum is about the tribes of South Africa rather than the origins of man. Still it's cool to see the different skulls and worth a visit.

A place I will definitely visit again with the kids, the museum is fresh and modern with loads of interactive features - pull out the drawers to see 3D models of humanoid skulls, for instance, and views in the floor of a recreated San burial scene. For my kids hooked on the TV series Bones it is a must-visit. The shop stocks a great range and variety of contemporary African design, hand-made goods and books with a strong focus on the origins of humankind. With South Africa so full of fascinating humanoid remains, and great explorers in this regard coming from Wits in particular, it is only fitting that this museum is within the Wits complex. Perfect for school tours. Coffee is first class.

A museum ideal to bring school kids on an excursion to see fossils and tools from before. Limited space inside and close by to a quaint café
