Sitting in the lounge of Oban Historical cottages,huge storm is currently in progress taking this opportunity to use the hotels wifi ( limited to bar and lounge)
.
New owners, Jan and Thiea took over a month and a half ago.
They have been amazing!!!
In the short time they have been here you can see the difference they have made.
I know that this will become a sought-after destination in the future
We Have loved our stay here and will be back!!
For the most part, we are the only guests. for the boys an adventure of note!!!!
We have caught 7 bass in a dam that didn't have fish. we have hunted the fish at the big dam locals told us that they have caught all the fish there we have now resorted to chumming and have hand lines with chicken hearts..down for catfish
In the third dam, we put down a fish trap and caught a bucket full of tadpole.. (huge) they will be used tomorrow as live bait in the bass dam.
It's been a tremendous opportunity to connect as a family with constant challenges of Monopoly Rummy, Pool, table tennisone only realizes how much time we spend on our phones when we dont have access.
It's a place to take stock of yourself and recharge your batteries, a place to find your soul!response / report this review -

What an amazing place. Our hosts went the extra mile without even being asked. We had a family gathering here over Xmas as it is about halfway between Jhb and Dbn and we couldn't have asked for a better setting. It is an old place with an air of calm history that you can feel as you drive in. Facilities are simple and clean. The food was great.
There is no cell signal (which is awesome) but wifi is provided and you can get signal it you walk or drive to the top of the hill.
It is a perfect little getaway spot or halfway rest point when doing the journey between Dbn and Jhb. I would make another trip here just to get away from life. Would go back in a heartbeat.response / report this review -

Stayed in a nice little cottage that was pet friendly with a small fenced garden. We were greeted with some historic information about the farm. Gardens are beautifully kept. Asome views and great to stroll around on the farm. Homely cooked meals are available. Ideal place and venue for group bookings such as weekend retreats, craft workshops, yoga classes etc. The tranquility and peace of mind is balsam to the soul. The farm recently got new owners that have great visions for this gem.

Gravel rd better than tar- roads in HarismihBest breakfast We had in many years..Peaseful and farm feeling.. let one relax..

Lovely and quiet with a rustic farm feel, without compromising on comforts like electricity, nice beds and cleanliness. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and Kim is such a lovely hostess. Will definitely plan a future holiday at Oban!

Very old farm and farm buildings make up this guest farm. They are clean and old fashioned as befits the buildings.
The setting is stunning and the surrounding views magical.
The management and staff are extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome.
The chickens and ducks roaming around certainly give you a feel of a farm, as do the dogs that took to following us around. It has a distinctly Christian ethos.response / report this review -

A home away from home - this is honestly the most cozy, comfy place I've ever been (excluding mom's house ;) ). The views are amazing, scenery breathtaking, breakfast delicious and, whether you want to or not, you will relax!

Nice location, very rustic and relaxed atmosphere. Basic, but clean rooms. Pet friendly is a major plus. Hosts very friendly and accommodating. Will go again. Note: poor cell signal.
