The last 5km of loose stoned, rippled gravel road was worse than horrible. Even though I was driving a Land Rover 4x4. Imagine a car. The place had game which was basically the only thing that we enjoyed. There are no shops or anything nearby. Reception was always closed the entire weekend and we had no access to any of the facilities that were advertised. We only saw management or any type of staff when they came to make sure we were out before 10am. (R50 p/p penalty for late checkout which was not a problem as for the first time we were all eager to leave that place). Not a single door closed or locked including the bathrooms. Which were in a bad state.

The place is provides peace and tranquillity.. adventurous, wild life and farm life experience especially for my kids.. they really enjoyed it.. if u love nature and a camp out person. Mount everest is the place to be.

Beautiful view and very private! We stayed at the house at the top and it had a fabulous panoramic view of the reserve and beyond. Game roam freely in the reserve so you might have zebras etc by your doorstep. The house we stayed had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a loft for additional sleeping space. The living area was a little snug and had a fireplace, big dining table and a decent kitchen. We enjoyed hiking and exploring the area, found an ostrich egg in the wild and animal bones etc. There was also a cave painting on a few rocks.

The sceneries are breathtaking. The atmosphere is tranquil. The chalets are well equipped and beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. Will definately make this a holiday destination not just an overnight.

Run down, poorly maintained, still beautiful though.

The campsites ablutions are a shambles, no electricity any more, roof and ceilings falling apart, no hot water (donkey boiler hardly effective). Campsite braais in disrepair, few braai grids available, grounds not maintained.

This camp used to be a real gem a few years ago - a real disappointment to see how it's degraded over time.

I went specifically to rock climb which I did. My second favourite thing was to camp. So I had the pleasure of doing both. The best for me was having views of rhino mum & baby. Later when it rained & cleared up we had ostriches wondering around the campsite tweaking off bits of grass.

Great stop, we should have stayed longer. That dirt road to Everest needs slow driving, but well worth the effort. Next time we will definitely stay longer.
