Booked an evening safari tour with a group that filled two safari vehicles. The guides were incredibly rude from the start. They also started the tour 30 minutes late because they didn't have their vehicles ready. Despite being told they would extend our drive until 7:30 to make up for lost time, they still rushed us back for 7:00 and we received only a 2.5 hour safari, despite paying for 3.
Halfway into our safari we had only seen impala (which is not what I am complaining about - I know animals are not guaranteed). We again, stumbled upon a group of impala and our guide pulled over, despite our request to continue on to try to find other animals at this point. After 5 minutes, the impala had moved and were no longer in our view. Our guide, despite this, turned off the vehicle entirely. After a minute in silence, I asked if we could continue. His blatant response back was "no." I asked why, and he said he "had seen enough animals that day." I said we hadn't and we wanted to continue. He then said he was "enjoying the peace and quiet." I kindly stated that we were not, and we wanted to continue on the drive that we paid for. His reply back was "well you didn't pay me, you paid the company, and that is two very different things." He also mumbled "not my problem."
Not surprisingly, the rest of our drive was negative, boring, and upsetting due to the actions of our guide. It was unfortunately a waste of time and money in an incredible country that we could have spent doing something else. I have never experienced such rudeness and disregard from a safari guide. Other company safari guides have always been so knowledgeable and eager to provide the best experience possible.
I have many more negative details to add to this review, but it is just too long. Our friends in the other vehicle experienced the same rudeness from their guide. They did not see any animals except for the end (which I know is not guaranteed and this is not the issue). When they finally saw a small herd of elephants at the end and requested to stop, their guide told them to "relax" and did not stop for the one animal viewing they would have had.
I also contacted Nkambeni with a thorough recap of events from start to finish, and did not hear back from the owners/managers. I would not book anything with this company.response / report this review -
