Very interesting and informative day with the Bat Interest Group. Shongweni resort looking rather tatty and in need of some TLC.

We have been going to Shongweni dam for 25 years and it is very sad to see the facilities going "downhill". There is no gate control now and the township cows have moved in to the reserve. The toilets also need some work done.

Visited Hazelmere dam today after a very long time. Road to the dam was in a poor state. The entrance process was extremely painful and slow. The dam is a beautiful feature which provides people with an opportunity to sail, swim and jet ski. Very sad that the surrounding areas are so neglected and untidy. R40 pp is a small fee but the money should be utilized to upgrade the facilities. Huge potential but poor management is obvious.
