Not maintained. Sad to see. Security let’s campers party and swear into all hours of the night. Camp on non sites (outside toilets) disgusting. Never coming back

Good morning all

I attended the Midmar Nature Reserve as part of the Midmar Mile Swimming Race weekend.

It was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.

I can't say what it would be like on a normal weekend.

But I strongly recommend attending the Midmar Mile weekend (even if you're not swimming).

There are shopping stalls, kids entertainment, food and music.

A great weekend away.

Great for family and friends to get together and enjoy the outdoors. Entry is paid so there is crowd control.Ample spots to park your car and haul out the picnic goodies. Great scenery..boats on the dam..surrounding rolling green hills..swimming pools..clean washroom facilities.

This is the perfect place to go to when you want to escape the summer heat- deep shade, plenty of great picnic spots, wonderful views, and the water is always only a stone's throw away.
The water offers so many recreational activities: cool off in the shallows, long distance swimming, fishing, or use of water craft. If you don't have your own water craft, you can always hire one.
If you have a "vintage" boat or board, like me, there is enough shoreline to launch your craft with dignity.

I've been visiting this nature reserve for a couple of years now and I'm still not tired of it! It's like a second home to me and there's always something new to see. Birdwatching is great here, especially for those searching for grassland birds. The game here offer you some great photography opportunities. Lovely views once you reach the highest point of the loop.
