We booked the tour in advance and also received a confirmation via email. We also confirmed the departure time and were at the meeting point right on time. No one showed up and reacted on our SMS or email. After an hour we left. Very disappointing service especially if you consider that we woke up at 3:30 am to get there.

An early rise but well worth it. The creatures can be viewed from really close, they are quite used to people as long as they don't make sudden movements. Seeing them sunbathing and playing in their natural habitat from this distance is really special. The guides are excellent and have quite some knowledge, not only of the meerkats but of African wildlife in general. Not very cheap but recommended nonetheless!

Maybe expensive for south Africa, but definitely worth the money!
If you book it, explicitly ask for directions to the meeting point.
The excursion starts at 5am, so think about warm clothes.
The guides are really nice and explain a lot on their own. But questions are also welcome. You get the chance to observe the meerkats in their natural environment from a distance of just a few metres.

I can definitely recommend it.

The early start is understandable. We had a welcome hot drink and had a fascinating and educational time.The meerkats were obviously wild and behaving naturally. A great experience. Highly recommended.

Eine Erdmännchen-Safari von Meerkat Adventures gehört zum absoluten "Must" in Oudtshoorn. Wir haben zwei Safaris miterlebt und waren jedes Mal begeistert, wie nah wir den Erdmännchen in ihrem Habitat kommen konnten. Wir saßen nur wenige Meter von ihnen entfernt, haben viele Insider-Infos bekommen und konnten tolle Fotos machen. Das frühe Aufstehen und das Geld ist es auf jeden Fall wert.
