Had a really great meal and all round experience. Flavor combinations were innovative and delicious and presentation very good. Great wines too. One of our best meals in the winelands

We had dinner here last night (Jan 3, 2018) and the experience was wonderful! We're New Yorkers and serious "foodies" and our entire party of 5 felt the quality of each dish and the level of service were outstanding. Considering you are meant to order 4 to 6 dishes, I felt the portions were perfect. It was a tour of innovative compositions with lovely ingredients and personally, I love being able to try many things without overindulging. The risotto with fresh mushrooms was delicious; the aubergine starter was so delicate in flavors; the beef was perfectly cooked (I'm originally a Texan so I'm quite serious about a good piece of steak and how it's prepared!) and honestly, nothing any of us ordered was a disappointment. The pace was good -- maybe a tiny bit slow for New York, where we're notorious for demanding everything yesterday! -- but you need a leisurely pace because between the amuse bouche (delicious!) and bread w/dipping sauces/jams, you must pace yourself. It's a bit of a marathon of culinary delight! I also felt that the value was excellent - that would have been a $150+ USD tab (if located in Manhattan) per head, excluding the wine. All in all, we loved Makaron. The Manager (Shaun, if I have the spelling correct) was also exceptional -- his team executed beautifully with many tables, dishes, and complex timing to oversee.

We had dinner here our first night in the country. I had somewhat higher expectations I guess. The service while we sat outside was really really slow. Once inside, the service was better and the winelist is great. Food was nice but not breathtaking. Portions are smallish so a 5-course menu is sufficient.

Stayed there for a 5 course dinner with my fiancée. The taste of the food and quality of service were alright, but below my expectations gained from the homepage. Value for money was not sufficient
