Loved the food and the view of the valley below. We sat outside with the wind blowing in the tall trees and enjoyed our starters.

We had dinner here on our last night in South Africa, the location is great, wonderful views over the Franschoek valley. The wine was produced in the winery and is excellent. The menu was local and well though out. All the food was excellent and the icing on the cake was the service - thank you so much

During our holiday to South Africa my brother decided to bring myself & husband to La Petite Ferme for lunch following a fantastic previous experience with his wife. The surrounding view of the valley, beautifully kept gardens & decor greeted us for what we had hoped would be an amazing dining experience! The menu was a little daunting as we were unsure as to the ingredients each dish consisted of but in the end settled for slow roasted lamb, in itself absolutely beautiful, but accompanying ingredients more of an artistic design than what my husband & brother's appetite required - 4 prunes, 4 of the tiniest amount of piped mash potato I have ever seen plus the tiniest amount of creamed vegetable. Having ordered 3 X lamb plus a fish dish for my sister-in-law (each main course R280+) our food arrived only to find our 3 lamb had been replaced with a game dish so instead of eating together as a family we waited while my sister-in-law had to eat alone. Because the policy was a minimum of two courses we chose to have dessert - again a beautiful work of art, but the tiniest amount of food, again tastes not to our liking, resulting in my husband refusing to even try what was placed in front of him!! Mine was equally unappealing so both were returned to the kitchen! Our waitress was so apologetic & the manageress came for feedback as to what had gone wrong? - and removed the 4 desserts from the bill which we appreciated. My brother was so stressed by the whole experience, especially as we had travelled from the Southern suburbs, approx. 2 hours drive!! I can only recommend this as a restaurant where food is an expensive "art" experience & not a place to come to fulfill an appetite.

Great food, excellent service . I was unsure, from reviews, whether this would prove successful. But we enjoyed a super lunch. Not haute cuisine, but good, interesting , well cooked food. We will be back for my wife's birthday shortly !

Very sorry to say so, but equally sorry to have spent a fair sum of money, we were not impressed by the food. It was bland and simply ok at best (of course keeping in mind the price) the view is of course stunning and the staff seemed fine, yet not incredibly sympathetic. But if the food doesn’t meet standards then those things don’t weigh on the experience. We had two other stunning meals in the valley and this simply didn’t compare in our opinion.

The food is great, however, if you're a tour group on a schedule then I would not recommend this place.
On two occasions lunch has taken more than 2hrs. An hour had passed before the main course was served.

5 stars for food, but it's expensive, and views.
No longer serving slow-roasted lamb (new ownership) but ostrich fillet is as tasty as you can get. The shiraz is good.

All of the old magic has well and truly gone. Was once a real gem offering an exceptional interactive experience/wine tasting, great value tasting menu and an amazing view. Now it is an overly expensive plasticised wine tour (small pours and parrot like often inaccurate explanation - apparantly all red wine will be in screw tops in 5 years) for R100 each. Now probably the worst winery experience in South Africa.

Glorious. Beautiful views with unbelievable service for our honeymoon - their own sparkling rose with rose petals on the bed on arrival. Well done x

Complete disaster at this esteemed restaurant

No apology for NO food arriving after 2 hours. Still made us pay even though there was no main course after 2 hours. Management's apology "we only have one chef working today" which in my book is unacceptable for a restaurant of this stature.

    Avoid this disappointment

Great food, great service, great views. Haven't stayed there yet so I can't comment on that, but otherwise very impressive.
