This is probably the best restaurant in Hout Bay. It is situated in a perfectly renovated historical building. The style is probably best described as “asian fusion”, with an emphasis on thai cuisine. They also have a bar with well-made cocktails. The service in impreccable, so if you want to eat out in a stylish way in Hout Bay, this is probably the best place to go.

This place is so unassuming from the outside. You'd think twice before going in if you were looking for a place to eat. May I suggest you go in, this is easily one of the best Thai restuarants in Cape Town. And the place is fantastic inside as well. They have kept the traditional old Cape Dutch feel. The food was outstanding, the best Dim Sum I've had for a long time. I have no idea what i had for main course but all the dishes looked amazing. And the a little snifter in the back lounge after dinner is nit to be missed. Enjoy your night. I certainly did.

Kitima never ever disappoints! This is one of my longstanding favourite restaurants. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The barmen are always smiling and love to have you try their various cocktails. This is, without a doubt, one of the best Thai/ Asian restaurants in the Western Cape. You are spoiled for choice and flavour. Be sure not to miss the Sunday buffet - ALL YOU CAN EAT (It's what foodie dreams are made of!)

Have a crispy duck with one or two glases Graham Beck Brut and before a Mai Tai at the cocktail bar: so delicious.

I thought it was going to be better. The food is very mediocre, the duck salad was sitting in a pool of oil and dressing and the duck was dry and tough. I didn't find anything special about the food. Im giving it 2 stars because of the staff and because the menu is large and maybe I didn't know how to order and not for the food otherwise it would be 0 stars.

Did was good. The portions were measly We asked for noodles and we literally got one fork worth! The salmon dish was 185 and barely 60g (if that) of salmon arrived.

One of the best Thai restaurants I have ever eaten at. Kitima had a lounge area and a large dining area. They have a fairly large wine collection. It's a fine dining restaurant so can be a bit pricey but it's worth every bit because of its delicious food and impeccable service.

Buffet lunch was amazing, Thai style with food ranging from duck to sushi. Venue is an old colonial building with huge rooms and an oriental touch. Outside areas also avaliable. Will recommend the buffet!!

We were excited to visit Kitima, the restaurant having been recommended by a few different friends who had been while visiting Cape Town over the last couple of years.

Sadly the experience was not what we had hoped for, and having seen some of the recent reviews on Trip Advisor it appears that the restaurant has changed hands in the last few months, with different management and many of the old staff leaving. This may go some way to explaining why the customer service we received and the food we were given was so substandard.

Kitima is a huge restaurant and we therefore fully appreciate that food cannot be perfect every time. However, the way this can be dealt with (extremely easily) is by adapting a 'customer is always right' approach. We experienced the complete opposite I requested 'medium' tom yam, which came out so hot that I literally could not eat a mouthful. The duck I was given was dry and tough, and the white meat was pure fat. When I tried to tell the waiter this, in as polite a manner as possible, I was told that the duck would be recooked in a way that I would prefer. The food was then taken away, we waited about 5 minutes, and the same plate was then re placed in front of me, with the explanation that the chef was refusing to recook the food. In spite of us saying that that is not an acceptable response, and that we were now having to eat cold food, this was met with a solid smile from the waiter, but absolutely zero attempt to address or rectify the issue.

We decided not to add gratuity to the bill but to give a cash tip to our waiter, who despite being inept, tried his best. After having paid the bill and tipped the waiter, we were then presented a second bill for two glasses of wine which had been missed off, adding insult to injury with no kind of olive branch being extended.

The food overall was disappointing, the atmosphere stark and corporate, but most disappointing of all, the service was the worst we have experienced in Cape Town.

Fantastic atmosphere (reminds me a little of being in Stellenbosch) and exceptional food. The mood in the dining room is a little subdued, but the food is genuinely brilliant - among the best meals I've ever had. Highly recommended.
