We loved our one night stay at this Newcastle B&B, and left wishing we didn't have to. Booking was easy and check in was a breeze and during each step we were treated like family, not just another couple of guests coming and going. This place is lovely.
Rooms are wonderful. They're quite spacious and we had more than enough room to move around and live in for one night. The family unit has a small kitchen but they give you everything you need to prepare your own dinners. Fridge even had long life milk in and the little stand with different coffees, teas and sugar is always a nice welcome.
Beds are comfortable and large. They are a bit hard so if you're used to something softer you might have trouble falling asleep. Pillows are too heavy and bulky so that could be an issue too. These are my only two complaints.
There's an unmanned bar that works on an honor system. Take what you want out of the fridge, write it down and pay at the end of your stay. It's well stocked with soft drinks and alcohol. There's even a little shelf with snacks. There are cameras up in the bar so don't expect to take things without paying.
Outside the bar there are a few tables and of course the pool. Clean and blue and we couldn't pass up the opportunity.
The grass is green, the grounds are clean and well kept and buildings are in a good condition.
Next time we're in Newcastle Haggards will definitely see us again.response / report this review -

A great and comfortable place to stay when I'm in my hometown visiting family and friends or when in town for an event such as a wedding etc. It's very private and away from the hustle and butsle of Newcastle but still close to all the amenities such as the casino and the Newcastle mall. Newcastle might be a small town but there are certainly beautiful and classy places to stay in and this is one of those.

Comfy rooms. Tv and air conditioning definitely a plus. Nice views and relaxed settings. Breakfast is always good and serviced quickly. Parking can get tight in larger vehicles, but otherwise plenty available.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, nice fireplace and comfortable rooms. This is where I will be staying when i visit newcastle. Loads of history at the B&B, Haggard actually authored the book King Solomon's mine

Beautiful accommodation with a great history. Be sure to try the honesty bar as it hosts a beautiful library and excellent decoration. As a tip, buy their breakfast package as the food was excellent!

Cats all over. Cottages are quiet, it's in a scenic spot. Staff are friendly.
