Great service, stunning views, nice decor. I will keep coming back!
We enjoyed our stay. The host were wonderful, and the unit we slept in was just perfect.
Quiet place with impeccable service
Beautiful layout wonderful people
Great Service
Great location, poor service
What a terrible experience.
Myself and family decided to visit South Africa. I have travelled extensively and have stayed ina vast range of different hotels and guest houses in Africa, middle east, Europe and the USA.
I advise everyone to stay away from this place. They may have a small handful of good reviews but that is more likely to be because many people don't bother to complain and most guests seemed not to stay there for more than a day.
The place is run by this old lady and her dogs. It is owned by her daughter.
The service is terrible. When we arrived we were greeted with 101 questions about my father in law who was our guide asking where he was staying etc When I went to pay I was subject to more quizzing. They want 50% upfront don't trust them.
To be fair the decor is nice but that is where it stops. No hooks on the door to hang things. No where to put your towels in the bathroom. You are not allowed to use the pool they advertised. No internet as advertised, she does not know the password and she cannot disturb her daughter to find out. You are not allowed to sit in the lounge for more than a short while. My kids were kicked out of the lounge whilst watching cartoons quietly a number of times. The breakfast is awful, boiled eggs, bread and cereal, the worst I have had to date.
They told us that we would have to move rooms on Friday then asked us, no told us to move on Thursday. Then on Friday asked us to move out completely as they don't cater for kids. Only tiny ones which are less than 2 years old. Being that I have 4 kids what would mean they would all have to be 6 months a part. Maybe they know something I don't but I thought children usually take 9 mths to be born.
A complete con. Either they are money grabbers or con artists. They claimed that we had damaged 2 white towels with blood and felt tip. No concern for my son who had suffered a nose bleed. I said ok I will pay for them but you need to give them to me. She looked shocked. She took the money and never gave me the towels. And in reality on you tell me that felt tip pen and blood cannot be washed or bleached out of white towels. Complete con!
Oh yes and there was my 2 year old daughter, she wanted to charge me 400 rand a day for. At that stage I had to tell her 'take a run and jump'. I said she sleeps in the same bed as us and she didn't even eat any breakfast. She replied well "actually I would like to keep the deposit you left" which was like £150. I politely told her never in a month of Sundays.
When she asked us to leave. I said ok can I have access to the Internet to look for somewhere else. I have kids and cannot be driving around joburg looking for somewhere to stay. That's when she replied that she did not have the Internet password that btw they had advertised. Then she said but "you can go down to credta" (where the hell is that) I said I don't even know where that is and do you really expect me to take myself and 4 kids into some Internet cafe in the middle of nowhere in crime filled johannesburg to look for somewhere to live. shocking!
Anyway my advise is to stay away from this place. They are ONLY interested in taking your money by any mean necessary. I found a much better place that day and I advise you to stay away. There are many very nice guest houses in Joburg to use. Avoid these guys like Ebola.
