Food was great but the service was shocking. We made a booking and we could see it written in the diary but no one knew about it. Not a manager in sight. We had to clear our own tables and wait for other guests to finish before we could sit down (we were a party of 12). Will never go there again.

Waitstaff are eager to greet you and seat you, slow to serve you. Breakfast is until 11:30am strictly. Their lunch menu is simple, so you don't have to worry about decision paralysis. The burger was easily one of the best burgers I've had in Cape Town. Definitely a top 5. Space is cosy, and some tables are big enough to host groups of six or share with other couples. Smoking friendly tables outside as well as singles/work friendly window seat with power outlets. If you'd like to be left in peace while you work, great spot. If you are looking for attentive staff, you're better off signaling your needs.

Always good.always busy but real friendly. Nice to see the owner so active there all the time too. One of the best places for Sunday breakfast.

Very good coffee. Friendly and very smooth atmosphere. Not to bad view to the beach if you sit upstairs. Reasonable prices.

I was very disappointed to find no alternatives to pork products on the menu. Our waiter looked at me in bewilderment when I asked for macon instead of bacon. No beef sausage, not even boerewors in sight. A real problem for customers who do not eat pork.

Most dissapointing meal in Cape Town.
Ordered a "closed sandwich" and asked if that meant toasted. Was told it didn't but that they could make it a toasted sandwich. When it arrived it was an open sandwich - half toasted - thus making the bread stale. When we asked for "toasted sandwiches" they returned so over toasted (still open sandwich style) that they were inedible. My daughters sandwich (which was veg and cheese) had no sauce, cheese wasn't melted, and bread was completely dry.
A very dissapointing experience - as the venue is so nice.

Really good chocolate milskhakes and fresh croissants. Coffee was loaded with different flavours, not my choice for everyday brew, but still good. Music was not to my taste (shaman ritualistic meets hippy nature sounds). The view on the second floor was worth the visit to Empire Cafe.

I had the risotto there once and loved it. Otherwise, make your way up the spiral stairs and hopefully get a seat next to the window and look at the sea.

My best breakfast ever, best coffee. Try the 'chilli jam bacon scrambled eggs on an almond croissant'.. trust me.
    Real local Muizenberg hang out.
Only had lunch there once so cant tell you how good that was.

    A Total disappointment.
Below average Burger and terrible service.
I feel for the owner as his staff have let him down.
He did however cancel our bill which i though was appropriate.

It's a classic spot to get a really nice cup of coffee and a pastry. Comfortable and quirky in just the right way. See if you can sit upstairs and watch the great view of the beach - especially good in a Cape storm.

Owned and run by a local. Leisurely but amazing service. Perfect for loners as well as small groups. Community tables are tops when alone. Definitely a gem in the heart of Muizies. A refreshing option away from the commercial franchises.
