Castke of Good Hope is an attraction to many who visit Cape Town. It's unique stone structure that has withstood the test of time against all weather circumstances, really stands out. As you enter the city centre it is right there for new comers to the city to see.
Over the centuries, very little has been changed. The interior has been restored , but not commercially modified. The dungeons and corridors leading to it, is still original. Scary!

As it is part of South African ancient history, schools take learners to visit the Castle so they can see it as it is described to them in their text books

Tourists are fascinated by its majestic appearance from the outside and queue to get inside. Castle of Good Hope is one of it's kind in South Africa, unique to Cape Town

Was extremely interesting and educational. Learned a lot about the history of Cape Town, how the Dutch lived at the castle and where slaves were kept when they weren't working on Robin Island. Entry fee was R50 including a tour. There are also 3 museums in the castle you can visit for free. Will be going again in the future and I hope to be able to explore some more of the castle!

Very interesting. The military museum & information boards looked updated improved since I was there 2 years ago. The canon display on the hour, & the guard procession at 10am were very entertaining.

The Castle of Good Hope is one of the most eventful historic buildings in South Africa. I often wonder though how many people actually notice all the hidden "treasures" of the old structure, like for example the tales that the wooden prison doors tell. It's hard to imagine what the inhabitants must have gone through and sometimes I wish I was able to time travel, to experience a bit of those times. The carvings don't tell complete tales, but it leaves enough room for one's imagination to do the rest. Well worth a visit, although the buildings do need some renovation.

Really enjoyed the Castle of Good Hope. Some areas could use restoring but it's still beautiful. Plus the exhibitions were interesting and we'll put together. Our tour guide was great and took us all over the castle highlighting important areas. This combined with the spectacular views of Table Mountain makes this we'll worth the R50.

Good historic monument , great for family and friends to join. Offers detailed tours through the Castle. Hosts some business events/functions as well. Offers souvenirs aswell and great views from the top of the Castle. Reason for 3 Star rating is the fact that there is to much maintenance going on many exibits of the museums are blocked off by the maintenance and the fact that there are so many homeless people sleeping around the Castle premises out side the gates.

My first time to the castle. Would really like to encourage other Capetonians to go. The bathrooms was somewhat shoddy. All three urinals were out of order. We should really be able to do better. The tour guide from Hanover Park was great though. I'm a little disappointed that I'm not able to see ghosts though. :-)

The Castle is a must visit for out of towners. Great Historical importance. Open 7 days a week. Children welcome. Also a great restaurant at the castle that serves original African an Malay foods.Ample parking

Great and interesting facts of South Africa. If you like history you should definitely go. Cost is about R150 pp. Ensure you go mid week as it can get super busy.

An amazing historical monument that has been preserved and curated well. Remember to bring cash as cards are not accepted for payments at the entrance.
As it is quite a large monument, I would recommend visitors set aside between an hour and a half - two hours in order to adequately experience the castle and museums located throughout the fortress.

Enjoyed the history and the tour. Just we vary of where u park. After the tour when I returned my luggage was stolen out of my car. I park just across the castle on beach road.

Great to catch the tours. But give yourself the whole day there. The restaurant wasn't good or fast or anything so I would suggest going in full and leaving hungry so to get some food in town. But def a must do!!

The Castle of Good Hope is a historic building in Cape Town as it is now a provincial heritage. According to reports, it was built in the 1600s. It has a majestic setting on the outside with beautifully trimmed grassland and neat bodies on the sides. There are six flags hoisted on the roof: current South African flag, old South African flag, United Kingdom's flag, Batavian flag, Great Britain's flag and the Prince's flag.

Fairly inexpensive at R30, the castle is worth checking out. There are a couple of plaques scattered about with details but most of the time was spent wondering about. Next time I would like to be able to afford a guided tour as I'm sure more can be gained from the experience in this manner

There is so much more to see here that you can imagine.
The museum with pottery and military items are great and you can spend up to 3 hours just on those.
The castle is so much more complex with regards to the buildings than it looks and is very architectural.
Well worth the entry fee. The restaurant and gift shop could be far better.
Staff aren't super friendly, but not rude.
