Clean room. Great kitchen Area. Nice natural pool. Nice staff.
Location, campus/gardens, rooms, service == AMAZING! Highly recommend staying here! From the get-go, the guard showed us around the entire compound, the reception was friendly, the room was beautifully decorated, and the food in the restaurant was astounding!!!
Reading some of the reviews here might make you hesitate. I would say they are exceptional circumstances: theft happens all over in South Africa (every tour guide warns you), and that sucks. But it is a reality of life, and sorry to read that.
Our stay here was a highlight of our trip. The reception was friendly, the security guard took us on a tour of the facilities on arrival. The rooms are clean, there is netting over the beds so you can sleep with the windows open. The food and restaurant are absolutely world class, what you expect from a major city.
And the social goals round it off nicely.
Best guest house in have ever been to. What sheer class for good value. Roni was amazing and so was the kitchen staff. Wished we could stay longer.
Best stay on our route touring the garden route. Loved the garden, all the flowers and the excellent breakfast. Topped only by the friendly staff and the nice social touch of this project. Would definitely come back. Rooms in the main house where we stayed are clean, tidy and have a separate toilet and shower. :-)
I stayed here for 4 nights and was so amazed by the service, will definitely be back again. The rooms was equipped with Air conditioners, Coffee/Tea making facilities, and crispy clean bedding and towels.
The staff was friendly and helpful and even check-in was easy and did not require a lot of paper work. Just outside of my room has a little garden that gives you a home away from home feeling.
WARNING!! Do not stay at the Addo African Home. As a young Canadian traveller my first reaction to this lodge was great. Like others I felt safe in knowing that there was electric fencing, cameras and security. After heading out for an afternoon game drive at Addo Elephant park I returned back to the lodge to find that all of my belongings were stolen (70 L Backpack and small carry-on luggage and all of their contents). I was left with nothing except what I had taken with me that afternoon to the game drive. Lily was helpful in calling the police and filing the report but other than that I received no compensation for my losses. Turns out their cameras 'weren't working at the time' and they were in the process of switching security companies as there were some other thefts that had occurred in the weeks before. Due to all of this I was forced to end my trip a month and a half early. I could not of been more disappointed or violated for the duration of my stay at the Addo African Home and am urging others to think twice before staying here.
Was pretty sad when The Aardvark shut but the new owners (hence the new name) have ensured that this place remains a gem. The interior decor has been changed slightly but is still very pleasant. The staff are friendly and the accommodation is very comfortable. Their breakfast is well worth including in your stay. I haven't tried the new eco pool but it looks very inviting!
This is a favourite for business trips in the Eastern Cape and will continue to stay here when in the area. Only issue is that it is situated on busy road which can be loud.
Was here for two nights. Accommodation stunning. Service very good and had great meals. What was very good is that the owner is around and just wants to make your stay stunning. Will be back for sure.
Rooms look beautiful, but showers and bathroom setup in the Grysbok room was terrible. the water ran all over the floor from the shower head. even wetting the toilet seat looks beautiful but no vents in the room. was extremely hot and couldn't sleep at all. As no insect nets on doors or windows. Te main did not have any ventilation and was very difficult to breath. But over all not bad. staff friendly and kind.
