Good food takes long. I agree fully. But NO. This place has avarage food and a menu that reads like a short story. No thanks. Will not be going back again.

Delightful accommodation in the quaint village of Clarens . Very comfortable rooms and in lovely surroundings. The nearby church clock informs of the time for insomniacs. Good breakfast too.

This restaurant advertises everywhere that their food takes a while - which is fine, but then it should be good food. Not 1 person around our table of 6 had anything good to say about their meal. Terrible preparation, no presentation, poorly executed recipes. Even the jug of water on the table tasted so bad we couldn't drink it. Water! And the few other patrons at the time looked upset about their orders - so I don't believe this was an isolated event. Competition is high in Clarense and this place is totally unacceptable.

We were a party of 6 for dinner on a busy Saturday night. Every meal ordered was delicious, service was very good. A definite recommendation.
However I cannot comment on the accomodation as we stayed out of town.response / report this review -

We went for breakfast and chose to site outside where there were blankets provided. The waitress was very friendly and provided a good service. The food is really good and satisfying, but the menu is quite expensive especially for a breakfast.

DISGUSTING service!!!!
My husband and I came through to celebrate our 3rd year anniversary.
Thought the place looked decent and decided to grab some lunch. After waiting 10 mins and witnessing the couple that came in 5mins AFTER us getting served, my husband pulled a waiter aside and asked if he or anyone else would be willing to serve us?
The waiter then took our drink order and our meal order in one go. (We thought this would help since the service is obviously slow as it takes 10 mins to get a menu!)
The couple who came after us had already received their order brilliant! So ours should be out soon. right? wrong! another 10 mins later and we had not even received our drinks yet! But they did finally arrive!
So we carry on trying to make the best of our special day and not let their terrible service upset our day. (Btw we were still waiting on our soup we ordered)
As we are drinking our drinks a gentleman at the table across from us had paid his bill and got up to leave. As he left he stated to my husband the service here is pathetic and well.. we can't help but agree thus far! Still waiting on our soup 30 mins later and counting!
Another couple has just sat down 5 mins later they already have their drinks?! We still don't have our soup yet.
My husband then had enough and asked the waiter to bring the bill for our drinks so we can pay and get the he'll out of there. Our soup had only then arrived.
We still want to leave so bring the bill!
After waiting another 10 mins and STILL no bill my husband lost it! He went to the waiter and asked for the bill again (admittedly he did swear saying "where the f*#k is our bill?")
The manager then jumped up and asked us to leave her restaurant and we must go back to Gauteng!
So basically because we won't stand for their bad service WE are the bad guys!
We will NOT be back! And I can promise I will not recommend it to any friends or family! If anything I strongly advise against eating at this awful place!!response / report this review
