Fantasticly weird atmosphere and impeccable service. Great interesting place for date night with nice music and lots to talk about. The food was great and the service and ambiance were better.

GREATEST RESTAURANT I'VE EVER BEEN TO!!! For one, the food was spectacular, and the service was even better! I have a background of family owned restaurants. For instance, my father and uncle both owed multiple restaurants growing up, and same with their father. On my mothers side, I had multiple family members who owned very successful restaurants as well. So I have expertise in the restaurant business, and I have to say I've NEVER been to a better restaurant than Zarra's. Zarra's food is already superb to any restaurant I've ever been to. The owner greets you when you walk in and makes you feel like you're not a guest, but rather apart of his family. The owner's son, Donato, even comes up to you and sees how you're doing from time to time, asking if you want more water etc. Zarra's is the main reason why I want to come back to Pittsburgh, and I live almost 4 hours away! Bottom line, if you do come to Pittsburgh, please come to Zarra's, you definitely won't regret it!

Outstanding family establishment! Food was excellent. I'll go back for the sausage and meatballs alone. Great red sauce also which is incredibly hard to find. Even the owners kids help by clearing tables, filling water, and asking if you need anything. I highly recommend Zarra's restaurant

I don't really understand the high rating of this place. I feel like it must be more out of sympathy due to no one being in this place. I ate here with my husband on Tuesday night at 8 pm. One other group was in this entire restaurant and it appeared closed when walking up and hesitated going in due to the lack of people in the establishment. Prices are high, choices are quite limited and items provided are not up to the cost you pay. The decor is confusing and creepy as some others have mentioned with no sort of theme at all. We chose it because we just got into town and it was close to our hotel but after getting our food and the small portions for the high prices we really wish we would have gotten in the car and driven downtown where parking is everywhere and food options/prices much better.

Probably the scariest place I have ever been the atmosphere is right out of a horror scene. My boyfriend and I went there for our anniversary and left because we were so creeped out. We were the only ones there and our waiter seemed surprised that anyone even came into the building. The decor was horrifying, and we will absolutely not be returning. Wish I could report on the food but the atmosphere was enough to get us out of there

After arriving in Pittsburgh late on a Tuesday, we checked in at the Marriott across the road whom recommended going for some food to Zarra's me and my partner walked into the bar area and got offered to sit in there or out the back room (dining area) we Obviously chose dining area to our horror we was the only ones there and the decor is like a car boot sale over here in England, we spent the time waiting for our food (near enough an hour) laughing at the ornaments and tryna make light of the situation as we did feel rather nervous about the whole thing, we felt like we was going to be murdered and also expected Gordon Ramsey to come in at some point as we joked it should definitely be on an episode or Ramsey's kitchen nightmares the food wasn't great either

My husband and I went to Zarras for dinner. The atmosphere is interesting. They converted a house dining room into a restaurant, and there are mixture of decorations everywhere (fireplace, dolls, swords, and painting) the server was very polite. The food was good. A huge problem was the price. Their quality of food is the same as Olive Garden (which I love, I gave them a 4-5 star) but their entrees are between $20 to $30. I really don't think it's work $20 for a pasta dish! Another problem is parking. The location is on a road with limited parking. Lastly, the restaurant owner (or some cook in the kitchen) would yell all the time and speak out loud, which disrupts the peace and quiet that we wanted. I only came here and know of this place because my friend gave us a groupon to try this place. We came during dinner time, but the place was very empty (only us and another couple). If they want more customers they should really lower their prices and perhaps offer more variety of options.

Slow service and cold food.
If you like to wait and eat food at room temperature then this is the place for you. We waited for our drinks, waited for our salads, waited for bread, and waited for the bill. In fact I asked twice for the bill and had to chase down the waiter.
The wait for the main course was understandable if they cook from starch. My food was at room temperature, I didn't send it back because who knows how long I'd have to wait. The taste of the food was okay, but for the price there are much better places to go. You'll spend at least $35 a person and at least 2 hours in the restaurant.
Don't expect the menu to be the same as on the internet!!! it is a VERY limited menu! What we had planned on ordering wasn't listed on the menu when we got there. They DO NOT take request so forget about asking them to make a dish without ingredient.
I don't plan on going back, too many other places I like better in Pittsburgh.

My husband and I arrived at our hotel in PGH late Friday evening around 10:30pm. We were starving and were hoping to find a good restaurant that was open so we could eat a decent meal and maybe have a little wine to wash it down. We noticed Zarra's across from where we were staying and took a chance to see if they were still open. That is where we met Donny who knew we were hungry and even though it looked like he was about to close, made us a couple of fantastic filets with mushrooms, red skin garlic and parsley potatoes and sauteed spinach and his Mom's delicious Tiramisu for dessert. We had a delicious bottle of wine to go with this amazing meal and even had a glass of CA Merlot on the house. What a charming Italian Restaurant. We never expected to have such a special romantic dinner at that hour of the evening. We will never forget Donny and his AWESOME service and hospitality he gave to us at a drop of a hat on Friday night. We will definitely be back for dinner. Of course during regularly scheduled business hours. :-) Thank you Donny!! See you again sometime soon!! We LOVE your Beautiful Italian Restaurant. YOU ROCK!!

Second time we have gone there. Very unique atmosphere. Pleasant and quiet making it possible to have a conversation. Food is excellent. A bit pricey. Service excellent.

The restaurant had a very quaint atmosphere. The bread was amazing. And then my manicotti came out: I can honestly say that I've never had manicotti that good before. I would definitely come here again.
