Repro: Dr. Beckie Williams has left and gone to Chino Hills Animal Hospital but we had an ultrasound scheduled at Yorba so we went to their new repro vet and he wouldn’t let us go back for our girl’s pregnancy ultrasound. She was in the back for 5 minutes and we were told 3 or more. People have been waiting for 3 years for her puppies so we needed to know how many, took her to the theriogenologist, Dr. Szebda, at Newport Harbor at we were back there for 25 minutes and she measured the puppies, checked their development, sent us the photos and there are 7-8 puppies! Big difference.
I could not be more pleased with VCA Yorba Regional Animal Hospital! Everyone from the folks at the front desk to the doctors are all friendly and professional. I am bringing my Great Dane here to their breeding department for her care and that of her fisrt litter. I drive over an hour and twenty minutes to come here, they are the BEST!
We have been coming here for years! The doctors are excellent, i would not go anywhere else. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I never have a worry when our dog has to stay here, hes in loving hands.
They state on their website that they offer "fully staffed 24 hour emergency veterinary services" and "exotic care." However when our rabbit had a fever of 107 on Easter Sunday, they refused to see him. And, when our other bun (who was being seen regularly by her veterinarian for an infection) was having trouble breathing at 11 PM, they refused her as well. They need to stop advertising themselves on their website, as well as to local exotics DVM's as a place that sees all emergencies and that sees exotics.
Our beloved Mini Aussie Shepard was brought to this vet on Saturday since it was really the only place open. He got spooked by fireworks and just starting running. We brought him to this vet and the first thing that was done an 1300.00 "estimate" deposit payment was required before the vet would look at him at him and that had to be paid before anything was done. Unfortunately I did have 1300.00 and I stated I could pay half immediately and the the rest the next day.. I was told they could not do that.. I was floored and mad and that I had to pay before any treatment. I voiced my displeasure with this and I stated it is nothing more than a money grab. We were than we could apply for the Care Credit option so they could begin to look at our pup. After the money was paid the vet came in and showed us xrays and said he was "bright" We did not know what the meant. We were than brought in the back and he was in a Oxygen unit. He then stood up and was glad to see us (Did not really appreciate seeing a dead dog on one of the tables), He stayed overnight and in the morning they called my wife to come down as he was crankly and could not give him an IV. They said to be there between 8-10 - My wife arrived at 900am .
She waited until 1100am and asked a few times can she be with our dog.
They told her on several occasions the doctor was busy and finally at 1100am they let her go see our dog. She told the doctor she has been there since 900 and the doctor stated nobody told him and this would be addressed. After a little while the doctor said we could bring him home and give him this medication. So we e brought him home and really consoled and monitored him and keep him cool and drinking water. This whole time he was panting as we were told it because of bruising he had internally. Later that night my wife went to check on him and he was gone. We wrapped him in a blanket and brought him back. We then had to pay another 70.00 . This was disappointing -- I think obviously our dog did not get the treatment deserved and the concern was all about the money. Stay away from this place
My first experience was was negative, but I fault the doctor at the time. Took our cat in for an annual check up and the doctor said his belly felt full, but seemed unconcerned. Two days later we had to take him back in as an emergency visit because he was acting unusual, not eating, and hiding. Turned out to be a massive tumor in his pancreas. The emergency vet's beside manner lacked any reassurance and just brushed us off.
The followup was with Dr. Linda Lee, who was spectacular. She was very kind and compassionate and laid out the situation clearly- the issue, the treatments, and the odds. Ultimately, we had to make the terrible choice. Dr. Lee handled it personally and gave my wife and I all the time we needed to say our goodbyes and prepare. Still she maintained a very no nonsense approach and told us what to expect. It was heartbreaking, but I am absolutely certain that Dr. Lee made the situation tolerable. We even got a personalized sympathy card from Dr. Lee a few weeks after we brought our cat's ashes home. I'm not sure if that was standard practice at YR, but it was a touching gesture that helped us on the road to recovery. It was because of this experience with that we continue to go to Yorba Regional Animal Hospital, and why we continue to have our cats treated by Dr. Linda Lee.
Everyone's experience is going to differ, but I recommend Yorba Regional Animal Hospital and always recommend Dr. Lee (who deserves 5-stars on her own).
About 2 weeks ago, my sister transferred her kitten (who just had surgery) from another hospital because this hospital had 24 hour hospitalization. When she got there the kitten was fine, one of the techs came to the front to take the kitten to the back so she could be examined and be in the proper medical care. My sister waited a whole 2-3 minutes to be put in a room so she could meet the doctor and for future plans for the kitten. The vet came in with a very happy face and very bubbly (at this time, my sister was thinking everything was fine) the vet introduced herself and proceeded to tell my sister that the kitten stopped breathing, they did everything possible and that the kitten died KEEP IN MIND THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 5-6 minutes. all the vet said was I'll give you some time after my sister broke down crying the tech came in and no condolences given, but of course the first thing she mentioned was how much the cremation was going to cost and if she wanted she could do a private cremation. This hospital is ALL about money and nothing else. My sister didn't feel very welcomed and the vet and tech tried to hurry her out. MY SISTER REGRETS TAKING HER TO THIS HOSPITAL! I will continue to tell my friends and family to stay away from this hospital for that particular reason. Also about 2 weeks later we took our other cat in for a check up and had a horrible experience with Dr. Wong. She seemed to be in a hurry, didn't take the time to listen to our cat's heart and proceeded to talk about a stool sample (AGAIN MORE MONEY). Dr. Wong just seemed rude and didn't take the time for us to feel welcomed. We came here because it's closer to our house, but we will be making the extra drive and taking both my cats records and returning to Cottage Pet Hospital in Anaheim.
I love the Dr. and the staff, it all depends. I had Rabies vaccines for all my dogs and when I got home I realized the wrong information on my Chihuahua (need to send the paperwork to OC animal control) had my Maltese information on it. Frustrating.
Today I called for price on my dog who has worms. All the woman could tell me is the amount of the visit and the rest ( de worming and fecal test), her answer was 3 times for the question I was asking "I don't know, doctor has to see the animal. Again, I can't tell you till doctor see the animal."
Geezh, I just don't want to walk got with $400.00 later. I just wanted an estimate.
So I just made up my mind, I'm finally moving all my 4 animals to another Vet. They gave me an estimate or worst case scenario. And their rating was 4.6. I'm done.
I actually need stars given to myself as they don't deserve any.two words "stay away" GREED is all this place is about and Dr. Steven Dunbar confirmed that directly to me during a phone conversation I had regarding my dog.. He told me that "it is about the money" It's discussing and disturbing and I would NEVER recommend this facility. They saw my dog during an emergency but REFUSED to treat her unless they had payment up front..
Facts are Facts and GREED (not the welfare of you animal) is what Yorba Regional Animal Hospital is all about !!!
If you do decide to take yor loved one here's..plan on bringing a loan application and have it pre-approved before you show up so they can soak you for every penny You have.
Good luck
If I could leave a negative star I would. Brought my cat in to have an anal gland expression which would normally be less than $100. Over $1000 later, his anal gland ruptured. On the first visit I told the nurse and doctor that my cat had a history of anal gland issues and that the symptoms were just that. He wasn't eating, drinking a lot of water, not using the litter box and very temperamental. They took him to another room and came back and told me it was not his anal glands. He is 14 years old and normally very active so I figured it was something else as the doctor insisted. They told me they wanted to run some lad work, an X-Ray and Ultrasound to check for issues. The X-rays looked fine and they told me they had to send the ultrasounds out and a day or two later I get a call saying that the ultrasound is normal. The Lab results also came back normal. They said if he doesn't get better in a day or two that I should bring him back in. 2 days later, I did just that. This time they charged me again for a check up and some shots as well as some prescription medicine that would bring back his appetite. Later that night to our surprise, our cat's anal gland ruptured. We brought him back in and again was charged a visit fee and other fee's for his anal gland rupture which I brought him in for in the first place. The original doctor was out and I had mentioned that this was the reason we brought him into the office in the first place. All he could do was apologize and not charge us the $40 visit fee. We moved here from South Orange County and we normally take our cat to Tallega Animal Hospital but wanted to find a hospital locally. Would have saved a lot of money if we would have taken him there in the first place. This place seemed to cater more to dogs, all 3 times I went in not one person had a cat or other animal in there. They even had a video playing on the TV that just showed all their dog patients. WORSE ANIMAL HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
They treated our family with the upmost respect and compassion as we had to make the toughest decision any pet-owner has to make. They provided a private area to spend time with our dog in his last moments and ensured he passed with dignity and comfort. I believe quality-care is proven by how well you are treated when things aren't going as planned, v.s. when things are running smoothly. This was a tough day for us and it could have been much worse had it not been for their superior quality care and excellent customer service.
Honestly.. The only reason I am giving this vet hospital any stars was for one of the ladies that worked there That's it.
Our 3 year old pup was hit by a car this weekend and was in pretty bad shape. We rushed her down to this vet hospital and upon arrival, they were quick to grab our puppy and bring her in However.. They stated that there was a $300 fee before they would even look at the dog. They treated myself and my puppy like it was just another dog that was going to die. Money was the only thing this hospital gives a $hit about. They lack compassion and professionalism. When the time came and I had to make the decision to do what ever we could for the dog (and still not know if the puppy would survive) or to have her put to sleep I stayed in the room praying with or sweet puppy. As this was taking place, one of the nurses was asking the other gentlemen that was with me "how we planned on paying the bill." I was absolutely stunned at how these people act. I plan on doing a follow up with someone in a higher position. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through that. Sadly enough, I have to tell my kids why their friend didn't come home that night. I'm sure the hospital doesn't care.. They got $1300 out of it. Pathetic. However, our 3 month old pup will not be forgotten. Neither will my experience with these scum bags.
I will give kudos to the woman who thanked me for my service and let me know how crushed she was on my behalf. As for everyone else that works there.. They can pound sand.
