Installed product as advertised. NOT interested in support or backing up their warrantee.
I contracted Yellow lite in 2020 to install a larger grid-tied commercial solar array on the roof of my single-story building after bidding the project to multiple contractors. We are located in the western suburbs of Chicago. Yellowlite was very responsive, provided good information and assurances of future support.
During their initial site inspection, it was noted that the roof was dated and would need replacement/repair in the next 5 years; to which the team member (BILAL SAEED) informed me that this was no issue with the solar system, we would simply contact them and arrange to have the panels removed while work was completed and that they would then set them back up. This was in fact essential to maintain the labor and parts warrantees that were included with the initial installation.
Fast-forward 3 years; It required 2 weeks to get a response back from Yellowlite to my service request to have the system moved for work and later installed. I contacted by phone (call center), email, and through the website. The reply back from JESSE VARNER was: “I apologize for the delay while I've been out of office helping in the field. We're currently focusing on helping folks get their systems installed before the end of the year, so the soonest we're scheduling system removals like this would be the spring. You are welcome to pursue other companies in the meantime, or you can reach us again in the spring for a quote if you're still interested in our assistance.” Through further communications, he confirmed that 1) this service is NOT included in any of the previous agreements, 2) anyone else doing the work would void Yellowlite’s warrantees. He has continued to refuse to quote a fee for his services (even in the spring) and then forwarded a generic link to alternative providers with a disclaimer that he is unfamiliar with these companies but that I should see if one of them can help me out.
TRANALATION: We are only interested in NEW sales, we are NOT INTERSTED IN SUPPORTING our previous projects and if we can shift the warrantee of our product to someone else we’ll be happy to do that too!
In the meantime, I still receive 2-3 emails from the company promoting referral incentives for recommending them, and additional products/services they wish to sell me! I can only RECOMMEND YOU AVOID this company if you wish to have the peace of mind that they will honor their warrantee and/or support their work. If they offer to be able to get you work done this year note that they are LIARS: either they are lying to me, or they are lying to you and consider what that means when selecting who you contract to work with your home or business.
I will update this review with the information of who you SHOULD consider, once I locate a solar/electric contractor that knows how to support a solar array.response / report this review -

Excellent communication throughout. Cody was great to work with. Installers were simply efficient, courteous, and tidy. The final hookup and inspection went without a hitch. And their calculations as to the number of panels seems to be right on, because for the twelve months since installation, our total electric bill has been a net ($17.00). That's a negative number, for non-accountants, meaning First Energy owes us money. And that's almost exactly what Yellowlite projected.

Zach was great and thoughtful. Took care of us and the crew was even respectful of our kiddos nap times. Everyone did an awesome job and would highly recommend to any and all to have these guys install solar on their roof!!

Our household has been considering solar for years! When we contacted YellowLite, the responsive, useful information and guidance immediately won our confidence. With Zach as our go-to guy, my questions were always politely, promptly and thoroughly answered. It's a process. He communicated in such a way that I never had any doubts along this journey, nor felt like my questions were anything but valid.
It's a big investment, and with the announcement of an upcoming huge spike in electric rates, our timing couldn't have been better.
If you're going solar, go YellowLite and ask for Zach. If you're still only thinking of solar, talk to YellowLite (you only get Zach if you actually go for it!).
We're happy with our decision. Thanks to YellowLite and Zach for getting us to our goal. Highly recommend.response / report this review -

Great company to work with. We just added 10 solar panels to our existing 20. Over a year ago, we added a Powerwall 2 battery. All purchased and installed by YellowLite over the past three years. The team is professional from start to finish.
Our panels work great in NE Ohio and we couldn't be happier. A solid company to do business with.

My April, 2019 electric bill was $1.05. I am amazed at the solar production of my YellowLite system in NE Ohio. We installed 20 solar panels (6.2 kW) in July, 2018 after learning that some friends used YellowLite and were happy with their installation. The company was helpful teaching us the ins and outs of solar power before we made our purchase. YellowLite handled all the permits and paperwork with our electric company so we didn't have to. The installation crew and electricians did a great job. The SolarEdge app is a great way to see how much power we're generating on any given day. We picked YellowLite because they have a long track record of solar installations. We're already planning to buy more panels sometime in the future as we've since bought an electric vehicle. Solar power is essential to a clean environment and we're happy to invest in a cleaner world for future generations. YellowLite did a great job for us.response / report this review
