  It's an awesome place to be, remember they have a system, if you try to buck the system, you will be asked to leave for one month. So it's to your benefit to heed to the system.

  A place is only as good as the intentions you have for yourself. In one month of me seriously doing for myself I will be leaving this mission better than it received me.

  Im deaf guy i been live there 5 month so far im not happy cuz few staff not care following missionary rule n themselves want be rule also happens had bit bad day guy refused communication with me cuz im deaf try understanding but he lie told staffs about fight but i wasnt fight with him were wrestling with me try inside cuz want mine rights to understanding for reason n where communication. Now i notice few staff cruel n lie about it n not right treat to them n i think they should fired few staffs

  If I could rate this mission less than one star I would. I went through a hard time in my life and my brother convince me to go there. It was labeled a 'Christian Ministry' so I thought I could go there to get off the street and get on my feet with some dignity. I managed to do so, but only by God's grace INSPITE of the mission. The staff were mostly rude and managed the facility like a prison. I've never read any scripture that indicated Jesus turned or sent people away for not wanting to follow him. I've never read that Jesus forced people to follow him. I do recall this behavior being attributed to what the Pharisees thought Jesus would be a lion instead of a lamb. I witnessed people with mental disabilities being treated with no dignity or respect. I witnessed people being told to leave or threatened to be kicked out for not agreeing with their doctrine. Staff emptied my locker on every chance they could while I was at work. This would have been only an inconvenience if items in my locker were not coming up missing each time this happened. I witnessed staff taking donated items home for personal use. One staff member there blurted personal medical information about me in the lobby because I didn't leave fast enough. Another suggested I pay him kick backs so I could come in later than check in time after work. Shortly after my refusal my permission and documentation that allowed me this 'privilege' was revoked.There were times when 'privelleges' were threated to be taken away if we, the guest, didn't control those guest who refused to cooperate with staff. That begs the question, What authority does one guest have to enforce any rules or cooperation. One night they forced us to try and sleep with bright white lights on all night as punishment because someone turned up tbe heat. Someone mentioned food in a previous reviewand I think it important to say that while they do serve alot of leftovers I don't have an issue with that. My issue with the food was the obvious lack of care for what was served. When it was all said done I opted to complete my journey on the street. I'm not writing this review to be vindictive, but I hope someone who can make a difference reads this and act. Someone spoke of a great experience there 10 years ago and how much better things look now. I would say that looks can be deceiving and often times they are. I'm not suggesting staff and those people who manage The Wheeler Mission are not challenged daily, or the men who go there are without fault. I am suggesting that if you have a calling to serve those in need you should hold yourself to a higher standard.

  The Wheeler Mission Shelter For Men:
  is phenomenally clean, personable, and helpful in many areas for any man who desires counselling, guidance, and spiritual or physical nourishment. The schedules are prompt and timely, with rules clearly explained for ease of access to all who request an overnight or longer stay. I have personally been away from the Wheeler Mission for over a decade, and the improvements made since that time are obvious and effective. Thank you first to Our Lord and Savior, and thank you to the tireless efforts of all volunteers and workers of the Wheeler Ministries who help make the Ministry of God apparent in all ways and always.

  The Staff should be commended for their tireless efforts to uplift and inspire the down trodden. Though I do not practice the christian faith, their services are for any man that needs a different approach to life's lessons. Many men complain about the rules, but they are in place for a reason. The only suggestion that i would make, would be for the Mission to partner with the local culinary schools and utilize their students as interns. Allowing for more creativity in all the meals would be an added boost to moral. Thank you for your help gentlemen!
