My review is only for the boat rental. Scotty was very chill and easy going. The pontoon suited our needs. We had an amazing time out on the water. My husband and I intended on staying in one of the cottages however they are very basic and I would not recommend staying there with a baby or if you are picky about cleanliness. The location however is amazing. Thanks Scotty!

We have rented a pontoon from Waterside on two occasions this year. Both times we received great customer service and a clean safe boat. Recommend for fun and fishing !

Best boat rental prices in the area! We had the best experience dealing with Scotty. He made us feel like we had known.each other for years. He was very accomodating and honest. Business owners would do well to model his customer service. I have and will.continue to recommend The Waterside Resort to everyone

Every year in July our family goes to Ludington for the fireworks on Hamlin Lake. Waterside Resort is the only boat rental on Hamlin Lake that appears to rent that evening. They made it so convenient, Scotty assured us he'd have a flashlight shining into the lake when we returned and sure enough he did - made it super easy to find and return the boat. The boat is a great size, we had 8 adults and 2 teenagers and still had room for more. If you've never seen the fireworks on Hamlin Lake, it's an event not to miss and seeing them from a boat on the lake is the best place to be!

AwesomeWe had the best time. Great location. Absolutely beautiful Lake. Gorgeous sunrise and Sunset. Our cottage was waterside and the boat we rented from them docked just a stone throw away. The kids want to come back, even if only for their Delicious icecream.

If I could give less stars than one I would. Two weeks ago I called to reserve a pontoon boat for our family reunion the end of July. We rented the UofM boat for 12 hours via their website which costs $300 with a 7% damage waiver. No problems, my mother in law and I booked the pontoon and gave her credit card number to hold the reservation. I asked the older gentleman on the phone if we could pay cash when we came there and they wouldn't charge the card. He said that would be fine. The next week they called my mother in law to say the boat had been smashed and we'd have to transfer our reservation to another boat.; a more expensive boat. They then told her that they don't rent boats for 12 hours which they did and it's even listed on their website that they do. At first she was going to upgrade but they said they wouldn't rent for 12 hours and it was even more expensive than the original quote. After some discussion the person hung up on my mother in law.

We just happened to be on our way to Ludington when this occurred so we stopped in there over the 4th of July weekend. The two guys in the business were extremely rude. All we wanted to do was have them put in writing that they had canceled the reservation and that they would not charge her credit card. At this point we had no interest in renting from them. My mother in law did not trust that they wouldnt charge her credit card. My husband went in to talk to them. Every other word was the f-word and they had no customer service whatsoever! They refused to put it in writing at first and eventually wrote something to the fact that we had canceled the reservation. In actuality they broke the verbal contract by not supplying the boat we had reserved. Eventually, they said that the motor had been damaged and they had replaced it with a bigger motor so therefore it was going to cost more. And that the owner wasn't willing to rent this boat for 12 hours. That is not how it's done. You can't quote a price and then change it because you upgrade your boat. And then lie about the whole thing. Terrible fraudulent practices here. They do not back their word! And they treat their customers with worse disrespect than I have ever experienced! They were even rude to each other. We found a really nice man to rent a boat from near Barnharts Restaurant. Don't be taken by these con artists! I wish I had read the reviews first!!!!

Beautiful location, very clean rooms. Owner is very nice and makes you feel welcome. My husband and I were on a short couple day trip and came across this little paradise by mistake and it was the best mistake we ever made. We hope to come again for a longer period next time. Owner Scotty is the best!!. If you're looking for the perfect place to vacation this is the place.

We love coming to Larson’s Waterside Resort. It has become our annual family vacation on Hamlin Lake. Over the years, we have met great people staying in the cottages there and see them there year after year. The staff and owners are very accommodating and once we check-in, they give us our peaceful space and leave us to enjoy ourselves as we choose to do. They have made many improvements over the years and keep up with the maintenance of their cottages and boats. They go overboard to please their many guests and their individual requests.

We love this resort and hope our child will come back with our grandchildren when the time comes. It is great memories that will last a lifetime.

My family and I rented a pontoon from these guys for the day, which ended up breaking down on us before we were able to finish out our 8 hour rental. When we contacted them (while stranded out on the lake), they were extremely rude and started blaming us for breaking their boat. The battery was the issue, which fixed our issue, but the maintenance guy who ended up coming out to help us, started the pontoon in shallow water, which ended up breaking the prop right in front of us. That forced us to be towed back to the marina early. When we arrived back at the marina, the owner himself became extremely nasty and started dropping f-bombs at my wife in front of my two children, threatening to charge us for our full 8 hr rental ($350), a $150 rescue fee, plus $250 to fix a $25 prop that "his" maintenance guy broke right in front of us. To even make things worse, they denied my 7 year old from using their bathroom after being stranded out on the lake for almost 2 hours. The owners of this establishment are complete trash, and have no respect for their customers!!! Do not use these guys for anything ever!

    Excessive Rental Repair Charge:
I rented a wave runner from Waterside Resort. I did cause a tiny spot on the gel-coat. Waterside Resort charged me excessively for the repair. I called around for repair estimates and Waterside charges much more than the cost of a repair.
