The second Saturday of the month is a plant sale. You must visit to see the exotic collection of plants grown here. So much Florida history tucked back under the hammock that you cannot see from the road. Stop by the Gift Shop to pickup your favorite Shore Wonderful Teas!
Very pleasant walk through the woods. The gardens were pretty and I loved the large trees, the rock beach portion of the park was closed, thus the 4 Star, otherwise would have been a 5 Star experience. Only $5 per car, well worth a couple of hours if you are in the area.
Gorgeous nature trails, lovely picnic areas and a pleasant little beach. There's a gift shop open occasionally. This place is ideal for a picnic, day trip or wedding. The gardens themselves are really very stunning. Lost of color and variety. There are also some educational markers about the history of the gardens, grounds and surrounding areas. It's a lovely experience all around.
One word: incredible. I LOVE this park. It’s the perfect size and has so many different things to see. The big oak trees are so beautiful, the rose garden is gorgeous, the gardens and gazebo are great picture spots (as is basically everywhere in the park), and the lake view at sunset can’t get much better. It’s just all in all one of the best parks I’ve been to. It’s worth the drive to stop there and take it all in.
**Update I thought it may be worth mentioning that it does cost $5 per car to get in, but they go by the honor system. There is a box with envelopes you can take. Grab one, put $5 in and tear off the receipt part. Put that in your windshield as proof of payment.
Also it's good for the beach access across the road(A1A) from main entrance.** Beautifulc park. The walking trails are nice and provide an enjoyable experience. The playground is perfect for the kiddos and is surrounded by picnic tables with grills at each. As a family of six with ages from 5-17, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained. Definitely worth a visit, especially during the spring and summer months when all the gardens are blooming.
This Park is a hidden gem in the Florida State Park system. Do yourself a favor and check both sides of this park out while you're there! Beautiful gardens on one side, interesting Coquina structures on the beach side.
This park is beautiful and incredibly large!
We rented an area of the park for our wedding and it was wonderful.
The price is very affordable and in the spring the weather is perfect for an outdoor wedding.
The gardens are wonderfully maintained and it's just beautiful to walk through the park.
I've included picture from my wedding to help showcase how nice it is for an outdoor wedding.
Very nice park. Beautiful and peaceful with small ponds and a rose garden. Many walking trails and a fishing area with plenty of benches along the river. The park also has beach access on the Gulf side of the park.
If you're hitting St. Augustine / Flagler Beach area, stop by this park!! I am on the process of completing every Florida park, currently at 88/177. This park really blew me away. Absolutely beautiful. Stop by the beach side to see the rock formations as well!
My favorite park ever..love the beauty and location between the ocean and river. Fantastic rose garden and natural gardens. Tremendous oaks replete with fern growth and hang moss.
Beautiful garden, water fountains, nice quite state park. Hiking, fishing, picnic areas, camping, a small beach area. Nicely maintained. There is a $5 charge per car. Oddly I did not run into anyone who serviced the park, but atmosphere seems friendly. Lots of posted literate.
We had a beautiful wedding here in April of 2017. We had a small group of 7 people. From my first dealings with the park staff through the actual event everything flowed perfectly. This is a gorgeous park! We got beautiful pictures among the tall oaks with moss, the rose garden, on the river, and on the beach. I am in love with this park. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making this a perfect experience! We'll be back!
Beautiful park.Love the rock beach.
The company I work for rehabilitated the dunes after hurricane Matthew with d10 dozers. That was a fun job.
Beautiful grounds, well maintained, tranquil. My only regret is we bring my mother-in-law (93) who is wheelchair bound and it is a struggle to push her wheelchair through the dirt trails down to the water's edge. I would like to see if there is anything they can do (walkway which is either paved or with blacktop) to make it a lot easier. We love it there, she loves it there and would like to continue making our weekly trips. Just hopeful they can take care of this issue since they are under construction now.
This was a great stop to explore. Park costs $5 on faith (envelope cash into box). The pools were being redone so they were empty but there were still beautiful gardens to see. The best part to me was the beach part across the street. Awesome rock formations along the beach that stretch a few miles. Be sure not to miss that!
Gorgeousmust see. Lots of cool programs for nature lovers certain times of year the rose gardens are obviously one of the best features of this park and half of the Roses appear to be bred for Beauty and the other half are bred for their scent really cool to go check out during full bloom
