Produce is great. The sales bring me in. I like the local choices. Variety if more healthy choices. Alternative medicine (ie. Essential Oils etc) are available.

Ward’s is a local institution. Fantastic family-owned store with a great variety of fresh, locally-sourced produce, bulk items, teas, spices. The staff is friendly and will go out of their way to help. Great selection of spirits and speciality vegan and vegetarian items. Did I mention the prices are reasonable? I hardly need to shop anywhere else for my needs

It's the locals secret shop basically. I go here for fresh produce and meat. The prices are competitive on those types of items. The only reason I take one star away is because of how cramp it is inside and if your vehicle is as low as mine is you can only get into the store from the back street without scraping the bottom of your car. That's really not the store's fault, but they could change locations to a larger building and that would give them 5 stars. The staff is real friendly, and it's a great place to get local items.

Ward's is great. Local stuff. Excellent produce. My husband got some Gala apples he can't stop talking about. Everyone who works there is really nice and helpful. It has a very welcoming and community-focused feel. It seems like the people who shop there are as kind as the people who work there. I highly recommend.

The true local and regional grocer in Gainesville city. The others may be good, but they're chain stores. Ward's makes me feel like cooking yummy food.

I've been a Ward's shopper for years now, and even with the bigger chain "whole food" markets moving in, Ward's is still the best. Their produce is always fresher, prices always lower and cashiers always friendlier than anywhere else I've been. Bulk spices and coffee are highlights of this small, family market. Skip the fancy decor and overrated quality of the chain stores and visit this true local staple where you can be sure everything on the shelf was put there with care.

We try to shop local and always make a point to check the Ward's specials. The fruit selection is amazing and the meat specials are often cheaper and better than Publix or Fresh Market. Highly recommend checking them out! Just be prepared to have to play bumper carts in the narrow aisles.

Wards is a unique market that is very popular for good reasons. The produce is plentiful and looks fresh. The food is organic and that appeals to many. The choices of meat are many and include things not available elsewhere. The store is crowded and does not look as clean as markets like Publix. That does not stop the crowds from coming. Wards has a loyal following and it is easy to see why. Visit for that unique experience and you will keep coming back for all they offer.

Family owned and run. Buys from local farmers and will bbq their meat for you. Has unusual things such as Virginia hams, green p-nuts, hulled field peas. Local coffees and confections. Locally made sauces, honey, soaps etcsmall place but has almost everything

My favorite supermarket in all of Gainesville! Excellent produce and meats. They rely on and Cater to locally sourced goods when possible and that means a lot to me. Smaller selection of canned goods but, if you like to cook, this place has an enormous variety of herbs, spices, coffees and teas from around the globe. The best part is, it is all sold by the ounce and you can buy as little or as much as you need. Thanks for helping to support the local farmers and helping your community prosper.

Fun neighborhood market. Very small and usually crowded, but that's just part of their atmosphere. Would not want to see this place remodeled and become big and too modern.
Fast service checking out. Friendly people. Very nice at the butcher counter.

I love shopping local and besides the farmer's markets, this is as local as it can get. I absolutely love this place! The store is pretty small and can be frustratingly crowded at times, but the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the food is amazing here. They have the BEST deals on alcohol and produce in town!

Wards is a bit far from my location, but I love the store. I'm happy there are places that have a good selection of healthy options. The staff has always been friendly, and if I lived closer, I would definitely frequent the store more often.

I live much closer to Earth Fare, and I think I lean more towards Earth Fare in terms of meat choices as well as bakery items. There is also more room at Earth Fare, but I'm not certain on pricing differences.
