We have stayed at the Villas By The Sea many times over the last 10 years. Really we like the place, but there are some issues that are slowly growing worse. I think the best way to sum it up is “good enough”. The Villas have some hard things to deal with being so close to the ocean and being around 40 years old. That said, the units were built well (concrete and steel frame) and are far enough back from the shore (for now) that they have survived much better than the new development next door. The front office staff is very friendly and helpful. The problems stem mainly from maintenance. That is where the good enough issue really is at. First there’s the fact that each Villa is individually owned and therefore your experience can and will vary. That said there needs to be better upheld standards. The beds and furniture in all the recent Villas we have stayed in have been worn out. The management needs to enforce better quality standards in the units that are rented out. The next issue is the Villas general maintenance. There are way too many things that are really half done. Lots of fixtures that are broken or missing. Lots of old plumbing and wiring projects that were replaced but just left (cables and pipes sticking out all over). Laundry rooms with machines and exhaust fans in disrepair, etc. Right now they are in their slow season as well as hurricane recovery, which is making the next issue even worse. That issue is outside maintenance workers who just don’t care about how they affect guests or even the rest of the property. They drive their trucks and equipment up and down the lawn and dunes that are supposed to be in the process of being repaired. They park trailers and equipment were ever they want (not near projects) and don’t care about what mess they make or what mess they leave. I know this is a rough patch for the Villas as all the new construction must certainly be hurting their sales and rentals. All this on top of 2 hurricanes causing damage in the last 2 years. Still the way to recover is to shine and not be a “good enough” place. I don’t want to be all negative on the Villas. They have done some good improvements: repaving the parking lots, improved their Internet to were its very, very good and they have one of the best restaurants on the island (Driftwood Bistro). My family and I sincerely hope the Villas make it through this rough time and improve. It really is a great place overall to enjoy a stay at Jekyll with.

Naturally beautiful as it sits amongst moss-covered live oaks and palms. It offers well kept grounds surrounding updated villas. It's a perfectly peaceful place to get away from the craziness.

This facilities' façade is the only good thing about it. In other words, it looks good from the road. The condos are outdated and dirty. The staff smiles to your face, then laughs to your back when you leave. Additionally, my three day stay was marred by an on-site injury. I was told by the General Manager that my stay would be refunded and my medical bills would be paid. Not only did the manager duck my calls and emails, he did not refund the stay, and did not pay the medical bills. Do not waste your hard-earned money on this establishment. Enjoy beautiful Jekyll Island at a safe, clean, and customer friendly Inn far away from this dilapidated shanty. Oh, and their food sucks as well.

The Villa is in a great spot close to Driftwood Beach. We were very happy with the accomodations. The condo was equipped with everything we needed and we were pleasantly surprised that someone came in and cleaned while we were out, including doing our dishes. Great experience!

Excellent restaurant with unusually innovative menu for seafood with great results. My wife and I eat here a couple of times a year usually with a large group of friends. (10 to 20 people) No one has ever expressed less than an great experience with the food or service and the prices are very reasonable.

Our stay has been wonderful. The room is clean and well appointed. The staff at every level have been very kind & helpful. The welcoming, lgbt friendly staff were the finishing touch that have made this establishment our go-to for accommodations on Jekyll.

Kind of disappointed in this property. I guess that since these are kind of like time shares, the quality of room you get depends on the owner of the unit. The room we got was like Grandma's run down guest room. The mattress was like a hammock. It did have a nice kitchen and little patio. The swimming pool area is beautiful. This is a more natural looking resort with lots of trees.

Unfortunately, in an effort to prevent beach erosion they created a wall of rocks which pretty much ruins the beauty of the beach. Forget a long moonlight walk on the beach, the water is up to the rocks at high tide, so basically afternoon and evening there is no beach beyond the rock wall, and if you are sitting the other side of the wall you can't see the water. 😕

The rooms are nice and clean and comfortable. I've stayed in a two and three bedroom before and loved it. The private beach access cannot be accessed at high tide but there are plenty of beach areas nearby to go to. The bedrooms don't have a ceiling fan which is something I was disappointed by but other than that I would definitely stay here again.

We are staying in a beach side Villa and it's great, good advance pay discount and great adult and child friendly adventures. The villa we are in happens to be right at the boardwalk entrance and it's amazing. We will be here much more often now.

The property is well maintained, the beds are amazingly plush with a 4in memory foam topper, and the rooms are clean and well cared for. The staff was incredibly curteous, attentive and helpful. The restaurant on-site shared the same level service, and although the menu options are limited, it was incredibly tasty and well priced. The only drawbacks were limited parking and a brief wait to get in, but that is the price you have to pay for being great at what you do, and giving people what they crave. We will definitely be back next year.

We've stayed here twice now, I like that it's hidden in the trees, it's quiet and you have privacy. You can't access the beach unless it's low tide, but we just check the tide chart and plan our time accordingly. I like that they have pet friendly rooms. Everything is clean and we'll maintained.

This is not the most modern resort you will find on the island. It's a little dated too. But our room was very clean and comfortable. It is only steps away from driftwood beach and the staff are super friendly. I give it three stars only because it's not the newest or most up to date, but lets face it, you aren't in Jekyll Island to hang out in your room! So it provides a great place to sleep, shower, and eat if you bring some food with. Not everyone can afford the Westin. :) Bonus: the restaurant on the property had great food as well! Pork Tenderloin was excellent!
