They took amazing care of my sick kitten. They answered every single question, and had updates every time I called. They got my kitten back to great health, and I couldn’t be more thankful!!
I went in because my cat wasn't feeling very good. Was throwing up and not eating. I suspected it was stress induced because of a new cat I had gotten, along with some constipation problems my cat has been prone to in the past. However, my normal vet recommended I go to emergency care to be seen quicker.
The vet from the start just didn't have much bedside manner to myself or my cat. Didn't seem like she was super interested in my case. She took an x-ray and suspected that my cat had a hairball blocking her stomach and that she needed to go into surgery within the next day. It was a bit hard to believe, considering my cat wasn't experiencing the signs of having a hairball stuck. I asked her what type of diet she should be on and she was more or less "she probably shouldn't eat, just in case she goes into surgery tomorrow." I was 100% not comfortable with this, so she gave my cat some anti-nausea medications and sub-cu fluids, and I was charged 450 bucks for the entire visitwhich is ridiculously expensive for something so simple.
I spent the next 2 days heavily watching over my cat. I put her on an expensive diet, made sure I was grooming her twice a day to remove any chance of growing the hairball, and gave her hairball gel to move things along in her GI track. Never once did she expel a hairball.
The vet finally called me two days later to tell me that she was wrong. That another person had looked at the x-ray and said that the stomach was actually empty (go figure, she hadn't eaten in several days) and that the intestines were inflamed from, you guessed it, stress. The thought of knowing that my cat could have gone into a 2,000 dollar surgery for no reason made me feel sick.
The only reason I even want to give this place a 1 star is because the wait time was short compared to my past experiences at other emergency hospitals. Not to mention all the vet technicians I had were amazing. Super supportive, very friendly, and made my time there tolerable. I will, however, not be going back here in the future.
This group of professionals are the BEST!! They were very compassionate and caring with us during a very trying time. Thank you so much for everything.
This is a top notch facility that is cleaner than most PCP offices. Highly recommend
My 6 week old kitten was taking his last breathes when we pulled in the parking lot. He stayed 4 days and 3 nights and they were able to save him.
Not an emergency room two times I called to get in with dog chewed to an emergency c section and was denied both tines. Also pricing is crazy. They are for the money not your ANIMALS. Mount comfort took care like it was their own dogs
Great experience! From the first telephone call with Mandy and Logan every person I dealt with here was friendly, kind and very patient with me and all my many questions. When I decided my dog did need to come in, I also found the vet, Dr. Hawkins, and her tech, Mariah, to be very knowledgeable, kind, patient and helpful. They took the time to listen to me and answer all my questions and they were extremely gentle with my little dog who was very nervous as he was not feeling well. The entire time I never felt rushed. They took the time to explain everything that they needed to do. I can't say enough nice things about this place. They treated me and my dog like gold.
I took an animal there that was hit by a truck on the highway, and the staff there were so helpful and thoughtful about the entire experience. They did a great job caring for her and evaluating her until we made the ultimate decision. Even after making that decision, the staff was so supportive and kind. I'm glad they were there in that sweet baby's life as she crossed the rainbow bridge.
Can not thank the staff at this vet office enough! They were kind, helpful, talked us through a lot of rough decisions and moments. Helped our kitty get better, and were blunt regarding ongoing care and direct but appropriate regarding the cost of ongoing care at their agency versus a not emergency vet, to be able to make the best long term decisions for our cat. I really feel like they saved our cats life with their care.
Took our cat there Saturday evening. $500 for an office visit plus X-rays. Wanted to do a surgery at a minimum of $2500. Really for a free cat I got at the flea market. Anyway couldn't do the surgery I couldn't afford it. Took the cat to our normal vet in Bloomington Indiana today. He gave her some antibiotics and said, she'll be fine, let her heal on her own. I just think that's a bit much asking people to pay $2500 for surgery when it wasn't really needed. These people are in it for the $$$$
Kind patient and knowledgeable. They take time to listen and help you take the best care of your pets. Helped fix my beagles broken leg to be like new. Awesome.
I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Stauffer and his team. We were referred to Indyvet and told our Dobermen must have surgery. When I contacted Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care, they got us in immediately for a second opinion. Dr. Stauffers confidence was so calming to us, we knew we were in the right place. He took a new set of x-rays of our dogs paw and we were astonished when he told us his paw had completely healed and we didn't need surgery. We honestly hope that his paw had just healed in the two weeks since his last x-rays but we can't help but wonder if another place would have told us the same thing or just allowed us to pay thousands for an unneeded surgery. At any rate, we are thrilled with Dr. Stauffer and his team and would recommend them to anyone.
We love the people here Sara was very sweet and comforting during our trying time with our very sick old puppy
