The intake person was kind of rude. Not in a "remain calm" way. She had a stank look on her face and a cold demeanor. The vet was not that personable, but I was quite impressed with his knowledge and he seemed to try to be personable though it doesn't come naturally for him lol. I'll take knowledgeable any day over faking friendliness. The prices are astronomical. Yes, they did a lot of work, but I did not want to part with $1100. A regular vet is definitely cheaper, because they have cheaper resolutions. But the care was still quality though expensive. One star deducted for the intake girl. One star deducted for the high cost.

Brought my cat in because she was sick and not eating, told me I had to pay $1500 , so they could keep her over night and run tests because she might have a neurological problem but they didn't know, plus $90 for just examining her. took her to my vet instead the next morning within 5 minutes my vet said she just had a fever and the flu, gave me antibiotics, ran a blood test(took 10 minutes) and gave her fluids which costed all together $185. They only want your money at this animal hospital. They didn't even tell me she had a fever! The vet had to idea what he was doing or talking about and gave me no answers. Wasted $90 and a couple hours of my time here.

Worst place to take your animals. Took our cat there one night and the night staff was very rude. The vet didn't care and wanted to put her down, the technicians I have a few choice words for. They should be fired! Unfortunately our cat passed away while there. Will never take them there again, I'll rush and take my pets to the AEC in novi. Least they are friendly and compassionate about the well being of your pets. As far as I'm concerned this place killed my cat.

I really appreciate the compassionate and comprehensive care Veterinary Emergency Service West has provided our family during two very stressful times!

We were referred to this location by our vet, and I am so glad that we were. We have taken our dog, Ginger, and our cat, Milo here within the last year. Ginger had broken a toenail almost completely off, and Milo formed a urinary tract blockage. Like most emergencies, these things happened outside of normal vet hours, but still needed immediate attention.

We were seen quickly in both cases, and treatment was started almost immediately with a detailed explanation of what was going to happen. Milo was actually admitted here for two nights and had a catheter due to the blockage. They monitored his kidneys to make sure there wasn't any long-term damage, and kept us updated on his status to help alleviate some of our worries.

We will definitely return here again if there is a veterinary emergency because of the attentive, compassionate care provided by the staff, as well as the detailed explanations of the process, all of which helped to make two scary situations much easier to handle!

My experience here was really unfortunate. This is not a place to come if you are looking for reassurance or comfort. I was horribly worried about my cat (who was having labored breathing due to stress and was listless), and I arrived in tears and not sure how to handle the situation (Did he need to be seen? Could I take him home and monitor him?). The tech working seemed to not take my concern seriously, and was unhelpful as I tried to figure out if he needed to be seen (she even told me I was wrong about his breed). Both she and the vet seemed uncomfortable working with cats, and they were gruff with my clearly stressed animal. Rooms were small and unclean. Going to the emergency vet is already stressful enoughI don't want to also worry about if my pet will actually be cared for while there.

This excellent clinic took wonderful care of our older little dog. The kind, compassionate, and professional care he received was second to none! On Christmas Eve I had to bring my dog to the emergency vet after he had misdiagnosed by the roose animal hospital the day before (our normal vet) The staff here immediately took him back and started working on him. After working for hours on him they gave me the choice of continuing working him or euthanasia they did not tell me that I had to pick either, they left that choice to me. they said that either way they will do what they can to help not only him but us. They were extremely kind and courteous of our choices, even through the last hours of my dogs life. Thank you all so much!

My family's 15-year old chocolate Labrador, Heidi, died last night in the parking lot adjacent to the Veterinary Emergency Service. My son carried Heidi over to the clinic where her death was confirmed. The staff, Donna C. and Michelle, could not have been more helpful and understanding. They provided a private room for Heidi and my two sons to spend a few minutes with her. They also provided a box for the boys to place her in so that we could take her home. The ladies were extremely comforting and supportive. They made a painful situation a little more bearable, and I am truly grateful to them both.

Don't take a pet here, especially if you are in a life/death situation. You will get no clear answers, will get misinformation, and they don't care about the difficult choice you have to make. It's all about money. All but one person we interacted with lacked basic compassion. The doctor was the worst. It was astounding. Even the owner's response to my review shows these people don't get it. I was in with an elderly dog, not a young cat.

I had to take our dog here on a Saturday night. Michelle at the front desk was wonderful, understanding, and comforting. I had to wait for quite a long time, but they were busy.
Once we were called into a room, things moved quickly and efficiently. My dog was diagnosed by Dr. Dex and whisked away for treatment.
I called continuously and received great updates. I was allowed to pick him up early based on his improvement, and was issued a partial refund based on his treatment.
Taking a beloved pet to an emergency vet is never ideal. It is expensive, but if you need treatment for your pet, they are available, kind, and competent.
