We booked a 90 minute sailing trip on our last day on Hilton Head Island (today, 5/29). We arrived on time, and the crew was visibly trying to solve an issue with the boat. They even mentioned that we may need to delay to let the equipment charge. Without mentioning anything else, they started boarding folks a few minutes later. Captain gives crew introductions and instructions and we push back to start our cruise. Fast forward about 8 minutes in to our sail when the captain comes and says “sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we won’t be able to sail today.” Turns out, the boat didn’t charge properly the night before and the equipment to balance the sail could not be used. so the sail couldn’t be used. So we set about a slow paced tour of the area, but it was boring and nothing like we expected. We were given the option to “turn around and get a refund”, but it seemed like no one wanted to be the people to make everyone else turn around. The crew was nice enough, but it would have been nice to have the get your money back option prior to taking off, given that the crew knew there was a potential issue. We could have found something else to do. I plan to call and discuss at least a partial weekend because what we ended up doing was not worth $50 a person.
In the past 25 years, I have taken the Vagabond dolphin cruise at least 6 or 7 times and it is always fantastic!!! We've always seen plenty of dolphins (up close too), the captain is knowledgeable, and the view is gorgeous! This year we had our picture taken next to the boat and ended up buying it because it turned out so nice! They even included a beautiful photo of Harbour Town lighthouse at night!! My visit to the island always feels complete once I've checked the Vagabond cruise off my list!!
Really enjoyable time and fun for the whole family! We did a dinner sunset cruise and took our children as well. The food was good and we were all full by the third course! The views were remarkable. We did not see any dolphins though. There are probably better cruises to see dolphins.
Dinner was good. They served a LOT of food. It was the perfect amount of time for a family with children. The sunset was very pretty and every table is by a window so view is not obstructed for anyone. Even saw a dolphin!
It was nice but expensive. The bathroom was small and only one stall was in working order. There was a family that was really loud and rambunctious. The food was good but not worth $70 plus $25 port fee per adult and $35 per child who got chicken strips and fries. The service was poor. You could not hear the captain or understand what he was saying when you could hear him. The scenerie was beautiful! That is where the 2 🌟 stars come in to play! My 2 little girls really enjoyed themselves and seeing the dolphins 🐬 helped aid in the excitement.
We saw a lot of dolphins on our cruise. We went end of September and it was only our family and another couple so we had a lot of room. The guides were great!
The cruise was fantastic. Saw a lot of dolphins. And Anna the the desk was super help and super sweet she should get a raise
We LOVED this afternoon dolphin watch. It was such a lovely afternoon and easy boat ride. It was definitely one of the highlights of our Hilton Head trip.
We took at the st. Patrick's day cruise from Hilton Head to Savannah. They took care of everything perfectly, pointing out highlights along the way, keeping the mood festive for the celebration, and slowing down at times to point out the many dolphins that we saw along the way. We even got into a little race with a massive cargo ship. But not in any sort of hazardous way. All in all, a fantastic day on the water.
Me and my wife had to vouchers to go on the dinner cruise for our anniversary. We made a reservation and they advise that we couldn't cancel but one day out by 5 o'clock. We get a call the day of the cruise four hours prior to it setting sail saying that the cruise it been canceled for the evening due to not meeting minimum capacity. Not very good business to cancel 4 hours prior. Will not be using this company again.
I couldn't find anything to complain about for this cruise! I read the reviews and was a little leery, but I am so glad we came. We did the Sunset Dolphin cruise and it was awesome. The water, the breeze, the sunset and the dolphin sightings were all breathtaking. Even if we didn't get a chance to see dolphins, I still would have been satisfied. This was well worth the money spent. Thank you Vagabond.
We just did a sunset cruise as part of our daughter's destination wedding. We couldn't be happier with the captain and the crew. They did an outstanding job of making this event very special for us. THANK YOU!! Thank you also to the owners who took time to run extra copies of maps detailing exactly where the boat would be docked. Your willingness to go the extra mile was certainly appreciated.
We took the afternoon cruise on the ship that won the the Olympic metal. Captain Pete and Lindsey and the first mate Preston were very nice!
Just recently went on a Dolphin Cruise with Vagabond Cruise with the family and it was amazing! It's December so it's considered "off season" on Hilton Head, but I think this is the best time to there. The dolphin cruise in the winter time goes on Vagabond's boat the Spirit of Harbour Town which was even HEATED!!! Saw a bunch of dolphins, and they even had a full bar aboard the ship. I would highly recommend going with this, we hope to join them again when we visit in the Spring!
